The Championships, Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open. Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass, the traditional tennis playing surface. Also, it is the only Grand Slam that retains a night-time curfew, though matches can now continue until 11.00 pm under the lights. Andrei Olhovskiy
Andrei Stanislavovich Olhovskiy (russian: Андре́й Станисла́вович Ольхо́вский; ; born 15 April 1966) is a former tennis player from Russia, who turned professional in 1989. Career Olhovskiy represented the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul and Russia at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he reached the quarterfinals as a wild card before falling to Brazil's Fernando Meligeni. The right-hander won two career titles in singles (Copenhagen, 1993 and Shanghai, 1996) and 20 titles in doubles, French Open (1993) and Australian Open (1994) champion in mixed doubles. Olhovskiy reached his highest ATP singles ranking on 14 June 1993, when he became world No. 49, and his highest doubles ranking of No. 6 (31 July 1995). Tom Nijssen
Tom Nijssen (born 1 October 1964) is a former professional tennis player from the Netherlands. He went pro in 1984 and played at the ATP World Tour for 15 years. Nijssen's highest ATP singles ranking was No. 87 on 17 April 1989. He reached his best doubles ranking on 11 May 1992 when he became world No. 10. A doubles specialist, he won two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles with Manon Bollegraf, the French Open in 1989 and the US Open in 1991. Martin Wostenholme
Martin Wostenholme (born October 11, 1962) is a Canadian former touring professional tennis and Davis Cup player. A right-handed predominantly baseline player, Wostenholme was from 1981 to 1984 a four-time All-Ivy Leaguer in singles at Yale University. He had a career ATP singles high ranking of world No. 84, which he attained in November 1985. His career ATP tour win-lost record stands at 49 and 84. Ramesh Krishnan
Ramesh Krishnan (born 5 June 1961) is a tennis coach and former professional tennis player from India. As a junior player in the late 1970s, he won the singles titles at both, Wimbledon and the French Open. He went on to reach three Grand Slam quarterfinals in the 1980s and was a part of the Indian team captained by Vijay Amritraj which reached the final of the Davis Cup in 1987 against Sweden. Krishnan also beat then-world No. 1, Mats Wilander, at the 1989 Australian Open. He became India's Davis Cup captain in 2007. Gregory Rusedski (born 6 September 1973) is a British and Canadian former tennis player. He was the British No. 1 in 1997, 1999 and 2006, and reached the ATP ranking of world No. 4 for periods from 6 October 1997 to 12 October 1997 and from 25 May 1998 to 21 June 1998. Lars-Anders Wahlgren (born 24 August 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. Career Wahlgren was a top 100 player in both the singles and doubles. He won his first Grand Slam match at the 1987 French Open, beating Guy Forget. Daniel Orsanic (, ; born 11 June 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. He was captain of the Argentina Davis Cup team that won the country's first title in 2016. Playing career Orsanic was a left-hander with a double handed backhand. He was primarily a doubles specialist with his best tournament results in singles reaching three quarterfinals in 1993 at Buenos Aires and twice in 1994 at Birmingham, Alabama and Båstad.
