The 1992 South Africa rugby union tour of France and England was a series of matches played in October and November 1992 in France and England by the South Africa national rugby union team. The 1992 tour was South Africa's first tour to France since 1974 and to England since 1969–70. John Williams (South African Rugby Union)
Johannes Gerhardus "John" Williams (born 29 October 1946) is a former South African rugby union player and coach. Playing career Williams played his senior provincial rugby in South Africa for . He made his test debut for the Springboks in 1971 against the touring French team on 12 June 1971 at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. He also played test matches against Australia in 1971, England in 1972, the British Lions in 1974 and the 1976 All Blacks. He played in a further eleven tour matches, scoring one try for the Springboks. Test history Coaching career Williams was the Northern Transvaal coach from 1987 to 1991 and coached his team to the Currie Cup final in each year. Garth Wright
Garth Derick Wright (born 9 September 1963) is a former South African rugby union player. Playing career Wright played for Eastern Province and Transvaal in the South African domestic competitions. He made his test debut for the Springboks in the third test against the visiting New Zealand Cavaliers team on 24 May 1986 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. Wright scored his first and only test try in his second test, the fourth test against the Cavaliers. He was capped 7 times and scored 1 try for the Springboks and also played a further five tour matches. Petrus Ingenas Lourens 'Piet' Pretorius (born 17 August 1964) is a former South African rugby union player. Wahl Bartmann
Wahl Justice Bartmann (born 13 June 1963) is a former South African rugby union player. Playing career Bartmann matriculated in 1981 and represented the South African Schools team in the same year. In 1982 Bartmann enrolled at the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), in Johannesburg and made his debut for Transvaal as a nineteen year old. His two brothers, Leon and Francois, also represented Transvaal at provincial level. Bartmann also played for Natal and captained the team 45 times and was part of the team that won the Currie Cup in 1990 and 1992. Bartmann made his test debut for the Springboks against the visiting New Zealand Cavaliers on 10 May 1986 at Newlands in Cape Town. In so doing, Bartmann became the first alumnus of RAU to receive Springbok colours for rugby. Steve Atherton
Stephen Atherton (born 17 March 1965) is a South African former rugby union player who played as a lock or flanker. Playing career Atherton represented the Natal Schools team, together with players such as Gary Teichmann and Joel Stransky, at the annual Craven Week in 1984 held in Bloemfontein. Adolf Malan
Adolf Weich Malan (born 6 September 1961) is a former South African rugby union player. He played 159 matches for Northern Transvaal. His usual position was as lock, where he also played for the national team, the Springboks. Playing career Malan made his debut for South Africa on 26 August 1989 against a World XV team. The match was played at Newlands in Cape Town, and Malan started at lock, with the Springboks winning 20 to 19. He played in the subsequent test against the World XV, which was won 22 to 16 at Ellis Park. Malan next played for the Springboks in 1992, when he earned five international caps for South Africa, the first of which was against the All Blacks at Ellis Park, which the Springboks lost 24 to 27, as well as the following test against Australia. Adri Geldenhuys
Adrian Geldenhuys (born 11 July 1964) is a former South African rugby union player. Playing career Geldenhuys made his provincial debut for Northern Transvaal in 1987. He had a very successful first provincial season with Northern Transvaal, winning the 1987 Currie Cup title and being nominated as one of the South African Players of the Year, the first player ever to be voted for this honour in his first year of first class rugby. In 1990, Geldenhuys relocated to the Eastern Cape and continued his career with Eastern Province. Geldenhuys made his test debut for South Africa on 15 August 1992 against the All Blacks at Ellis Park. Harry Roberts (born 13 December 1960 in Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia) is a former South African rugby union player. He was qualified to play for both South Africa and Scotland. Rugby Union career Amateur career In 1987, Roberts moved to Leicester and spent a couple of years at the club. The following season he played for London Scottish. Provincial career Roberts made his debut for Transvaal in 1985 and played 16 matches for Transvaal in 1985 and 1986., after which he returned to Transvaal and played a further 79 matches for the union. Andries Truscott
Johannes Andries Truscott (born 22 July 1968) is a former South African rugby union player. Playing career A product off Grey College in Bloemfontein, Truscott represented the Schools team at the annual Craven Week tournament in 1986 and was then selected for the South African Schools team. After school he moved to Transvaal and played for the under 20 teams in 1987 and in 1988 he relocated to , also playing for the under 20 team. He made his senior provincial debut for Northern Transvaal in 1990. Truscott toured with the Springboks in 1992 to France and England. He did not play in any test matches for the Springboks but played in four tour matches. In 1993, Truscott received a two-year ban after testing positive for the use of the banned stimulant. Truscott returned during the 1996 season, and represented Northern Transvaal in the inaugural Super 12. Willem Gerhardus "Willie" Hills (born 26 January 1962) is a former South African rugby union player. Playing career Hills represented the Northern Transvaal Schools team and under–20 team as a flanker and made his debut for the Northern Transvaal senior team in 1990, playing hooker. Hills toured with the Springboks to France and England in 1992, when he was originally included at tighthead, and made his test debut at hooker against France on 17 October 1992 at Stade de Gerland in Lyon. Keith Andrews (rugby Player)
Keith Steven Andrews (born 3 May 1962) is a South African former rugby union player. Playing career Andrews completed his schooling at Selborne College in East London in the Eastern Cape, where played as a Flank. He also played Flank for the Western Province under–20 team after he moved to Cape Town to study at the University of Cape Town. He made his senior provincial debut for Western Province in 1985 as a Tighthead prop and spent 13 seasons with Western Province and was part of the Western Province team that won the Currie Cup in 1986 and 1997. He made his test debut for the Springboks against England on 14 November 1992 at Twickenham in London.
