1992 Hungarian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 1992 Hungarian motorcycle Grand Prix was the ninth round of the 1992 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 10–12 July 1992 at the Hungaroring circuit. 500 cc race report Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz are back from injury, Schwantz with a thin cast that will allow him to ride. Yamaha introduced its YZR500 version of a "big bang" bike for Rainey. Rainey tried using the old engine with the new chassis, but the rear wheel spun too much and the power came on too abruptly. Doug Chandler on pole; John Kocinski gets the start but rain brings out a red flag and a new race. Wet restart goes to Eddie Lawson, then Schwantz and Rainey. Randy Mamola moves to the lead. Order becomes: Mamola, Rainey, Chandler and Schwantz. Chandler passes Rainey. Dominique Sarron
Dominique Sarron (born 27 August 1959 in Riom, Puy-de-Dôme) is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer from France. His best year was in 1986 when he won the Brazilian Grand Prix and finished in third place in the 250cc world championship behind Carlos Lavado and Sito Pons. He won two races in 1988 riding for Honda and ended the season ranked fourth. After his Grand Prix career, Sarron competed in the 1993 Superbike World Championship. He also competed in motorcycle endurance racing. He won the Suzuka 8 Hours in 1986 partnered with Wayne Gardner, and in 1989 partnered with Alex Vieira. He is the younger brother of Christian Sarron, also a Grand Prix motorcycle racer. Niall Mackenzie
Niall Macfarlane Mackenzie (born 19 July 1961) is a Scottish former professional motorcycle road racer. Career Mackenzie, who hails from Fankerton, near Denny, Stirlingshire; won the British Superbike Championship three times from 1996 to 1998 with the Rob McElnea-run Yamaha team, and the British 250cc and 350cc titles twice earlier in his career. He had a long career in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing circuit, debuting in 1984 in the 250cc class. He moved up to the 500cc class in 1986 on a Suzuki before spells on Honda and Yamaha motorcycles. He was 4th in the championship in 1990, and finished in the top 10 in the championship on five other occasions. Miguel Duhamel (born May 26, 1967) is a Canadian former professional motorcycle racer. He is the son of Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame member Yvon Duhamel. He is tied with Toni Elias for the fourth-winningest rider in the AMA Superbike series with 32 wins (Mat Mladin is #1 with 82, Josh Hayes is #2 with 61, and Cameron Beaubier is #3 with 38). Eddie Laycock (born 25 May 1961) is a former professional motorcycle racer from Dublin, Ireland. Motorcycle racing career A two-time Isle of Man TT race winner, in 1986, Laycock finished runner-up to Brian Reid in the TT Formula 2 World Championship. Juan Garriga
Joan Garriga Vilaresau (29 March 1963 – 27 August 2015) was a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was known for his aggressive riding style. Together with Sito Pons, he helped to forge the path for Spanish riders in the World Championship’s premier class. Garriga had his best year in 1988, when he won three races and finished second in the 250cc world championship to Pons. In 1990, he moved up to the 500cc class but failed to repeat his successes in the 250 class. He also competed in the Superbike World Championship in 1993. In 1998, Garriga was arrested for drug trafficking and possessing illegal weapons, and ultimately sentenced to two years' imprisonment, suspended. Court-obtained medical records showed that he had been regularly taking drugs during his motorcycle-racing career. Garriga died due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle road accident in August 2015.
