The Fussball Club Basel 1893 1991–92 season was their 98th season since the club's foundation. Charles Röthlisberger was the club's chairman for the fourth consecutive year. FC Basel played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium. Following their relegation in the 1987–88 season this was their fourth season in the second tier of Swiss football. Overview Pre-season Ernst August Künnecke was first-team coach for the second consecutive season. After missing promotion in the previous season, the club's repeated priority aim was to return to the top flight of Swiss football. There were a number of changes in the squad. Erni Maissen retired from his professional playing career. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Formed in 1893, the club has been Swiss national champions 20 times, Swiss Cup winners 13 times, and Swiss League Cup winners once. Patrick Liniger
Patrick Liniger (born 18 August 1971) is a Swiss former footballer who played in the late 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s as defender. Liniger played his youth football with FC Basel and advanced to their first team for their 1988–89 season and signed his first professional football contract under head coach Urs Siegenthaler. After playing in two test games, Liniger played his domestic league debut for the club in the home game at the St. Jakob Stadium on 11 March 1990 as Basel won 3–1 against Schaffhausen. He stayed with the club for three years and during this time Liniger played a total of 25 games for Basel without scoring a goal. 16 of these games were in the Nationalliga B, one in the Swiss Cup and eight were friendly games. Roman Hangarter (born 16 August 1967) is a Swiss retired footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played mainly in the position as striker, but also as midfielder. Playing career Hangarter played his youth football with local club FC Brüttisellen and advanced to their first team in 1986. He played in their first team for two seasons. Hangarter signed his first professional contract during the summer break 1988 with St. Gallen and stayed with the club for a test season in the 1988–89 Nationalliga A. After spending this one season with FCSG, Hangarter transferred to Grasshopper Club for the 1989–90 Nationalliga A season. Hangarter won the Nationalliga A championship that season. FC Grenchen
FC Grenchen is a Swiss football club, based in Grenchen. They currently play in the 2. Liga, and play their matches at the Brühl Stadium. History FC Grenchen was founded in 1906. Germano Fanciulli
Germano Fanciulli (born 28 October 1965) is an Italian footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played mainly as a forward, but also as a midfielder. Fanciulli played his youth football with local club BSC Old Boys. He advanced to their first team, who played in the third tier of Swiss football, in the 1981–1982 season. Franciulli played with the Old Boys for six seasons. At the end of the 1986–87 season Franciulli and his team were group champions and accieved promotion to the Nationalliga. BSC Young Boys (YB by short abbreviation ) are a Swiss sports club based in Bern, Switzerland. Its first team has won 15 Swiss league championships and six Swiss Cups.
