The 1991–92 season was the first in which teams from the former East were integrated into the unified German system, and Dynamo Dresden entered into the Bundesliga, having finished as runners-up in the NOFV-Oberliga The NOFV- Oberliga is a division at step 5 of the German football league system. Jens Melzig
Jens Melzig (born 28 September 1965) is a former professional German footballer who played as a defender. Career Born in Cottbus, Melzig began his career with Energie Cottbus, helping the club earn promotion to the DDR-Oberliga in 1986, and again in 1988 after they had bounced straight back down to the DDR-Liga. After German reunification, Cottbus failed to qualify for the professional leagues, so in 1991 Melzig joined Dynamo Dresden, who had entered the Bundesliga. He was a first-team regular in two seasons with Dynamo, before joining Bayer Leverkusen for another two-year spell, in which he was mostly used as a backup. In 1995, Melzig joined 2. Bundesliga side Chemnitzer FC, making twenty appearances as the club were relegated to the third-tier Regionalliga Nordost, where they joined Energie Cottbus, whom Melzig promptly re-signed for. Sven Ratke
Sven Ratke (born 3 January 1972 in Görlitz) is a German former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Career Ratke began his career with Dynamo Dresden, making his debut in the 1989–90 season, in which the club won the League and Cup double, with Ratke coming on as a substitute for Matthias Döschner in the cup final. After reunification, Dynamo qualified for the Bundesliga, where they played for four seasons, and Ratke played in each one, a total of 48 appearances (one goal). After Dynamo's relegation in 1995, Ratke left the club, joining ambitious Hamburg club SV Lurup, where he spent half a season before signing for VfL Wolfsburg of the 2. Bundesliga. Wolfsburg were promoted to the Bundesliga in Ratke's second season with the club, and he made 13 appearances at this level, before leaving in 1998. Jörg Stübner (23 July 1965 – 24 June 2019) was a German professional footballer who amassed 47 international caps for East Germany. Biography Stübner began his career with BSG Motor Halle in 1973 then chose "his" SG Dynamo Dresden" over 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig in 1979, where he was called "Stübs" by fans and teammates, scoring 14 goals in 182 league appearances. Stübner was twice DDR-Oberliga champion with the Dresden club, in 1989 and 1990, and three-time FDGB-Pokal winner in 1984, 1985 and 1990. Hans-Uwe Pilz (born 10 November 1958) is a German former footballer. He began his career with BSG Sachsenring Zwickau before joining Dynamo Dresden during the winter break of the 1981–82 season. He remained at Dynamo until German reunification when he moved west, following teammates Matthias Döschner and Andreas Trautmann to Fortuna Köln. However, he returned to Dynamo after a few months, and would play for the club until 1995, including four years in the Bundesliga.
