The 1991–92 season was Burnley's 104th season of League football and their seventh consecutive campaign in the fourth tier of English football. Frank Casper started the season as manager, having been appointed to the post two years previously, before he was replaced by Jimmy Mullen in October 1991. Background and pre-season Frank Casper started the season as manager of Burnley, having originally held the post in a caretaker capacity during the 1982–83 campaign and then returning as the permanent appointment in January 1989. Andy Marriott
Andrew Marriott (born 11 October 1970) is an English-born Welsh professional footballer, who played as a goalkeeper. He is a journeyman player, having represented various clubs, and has also played for the Welsh national team. Football career Marriott was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield. He began his career as a trainee with Arsenal in April 1987, turning professional in October 1988. However, he never made the first team at Highbury, joining Nottingham Forest in June 1989 for a fee of £50,000. Stephen Mark Davis (born 30 October 1968 ) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. He had three spells with Burnley, and has subsequently coached for them. He was the first team coach for EFL Championship side Bolton Wanderers but was sacked along with Owen Coyle on 9 October. Playing career Davis was born in Hexham, but started his career as a trainee with Southampton in August 1986, turning professional in July 1987. He was a virtual ever-present in the reserve team in both the 1987–88 and 1988–89 seasons, making 35 appearances each time. Despite this, he failed to break through into the first team. Steven James Harper (born 3 February 1969) is an English former footballer who scored 54 goals in 504 league games in a 15-year career in the Football League. He was a speedy winger, adept at dribbling the ball. He began his professional career at Port Vale in June 1987, before he was sold to Preston North End for £35,000 in March 1989. He joined Burnley on a free transfer in July 1991, and helped the "Clarets" to win the Fourth Division title in 1991–92. He moved on to Doncaster Rovers in August 1993, before he was sold on to Mansfield Town for a £20,000 fee in September 1995. He took a free transfer to Hull City in July 1999, before joining Darlington in February 2001. He left the Football League in 2002, and moved into non-league football with Kidsgrove Athletic. Mark Jason Yates (born 24 January 1970) is an English former professional footballer and manager, most recently for Stourbridge. As a player, he played primarily in a central midfield role.
