1991–92 Arkansas Razorbacks Men's Basketball Team
The 1991–92 Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas in the 1991–92 college basketball season. The head coach was Nolan Richardson, serving for his seventh year. The team played its home games in Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In their first year of competition in the Southeastern Conference, Arkansas won the SEC West Division and SEC regular season championships. After beating Murray State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Hogs were upset in the second round by Memphis State, led by Penny Hardaway. Nolan Richardson
Nolan Richardson Jr. (born December 27, 1941) is a former American basketball head coach best known for his tenure at the University of Arkansas, where he won the 1994 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament and led the Razorbacks to three Final Fours. Elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, Richardson coached teams to winning a Division I Basketball National Championship, an NIT championship, and a Junior College National Championship, making him the only coach to win all three championships. During his 22 seasons of coaching in NCAA Division I, Richardson made a post-season tournament appearance 20 times. The 1991–92 Murray State Racers men's basketball team represented Murray State University during the 1991–92 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center is an arena located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, United States. The 1991–92 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team represented the University of Kentucky in NCAA competition in the 1991–92 season. The team was coached by Rick Pitino. This season's team is one of the most fondly remembered in UK's long basketball history. Due to major recruiting violations committed by Pitino's predecessor Eddie Sutton, the 1991-92 Wildcats were coming off a three-year postseason ban where the team was not allowed to compete in tournament play. (Note the NCAA did not find Sutton personally liable.) The violations had mainly centered on alleged cheating by 1987-89 player Eric Manuel on the ACT college entrance exam and cash payments to the guardian of another former player, Chris Mills.
