Marc Madiot
Marc Madiot (born 16 April 1959) is a French former professional road racing cyclist and double winner of Paris–Roubaix. He also competed in the individual road race event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Retired from racing in 1994, he is now best known as the directeur sportif of , a UCI WorldTeam. He is also known as the president of the French Ligue National de Cyclisme (LNC). In 1987, he made disparaging remarks about the sport of women's cycling, calling it ugly and unesthetic. In 2008, he was made a knight of the French Legion of Honor. It was presented by president Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée palace in Paris. He is the older brother of fellow retired racing cyclist and French national road racing champion Yvon Madiot. Steve Bauer
Steven Todd Bauer, MSM (born June 12, 1959) is a retired professional road bicycle racer from Canada. He won the first Olympic medal in road cycling for Canada and until 2022 he was the only Canadian to win an individual stage of the Tour de France (both Ryder Hesjedal and Svein Tuft and Alex Stieda had been part of winning team time trial squads). Cycling career Bauer joined the Canadian national cycling team in 1977, competing in team pursuit. He would remain on the national team for seven years, winning the national road race championship in 1981, 1982, and 1983, competing in the Commonwealth Games (1978, 1982), the Pan American Games (1979). He capped his amateur career with a silver medal in the men's cycling road race at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. This was the first medal in road cycling for Canada at the Olympics. Hendrik Redant (born 1 November 1962 in Ninove) is a Belgian former professional cyclist. He was a directeur sportif with the Omega Pharma–Lotto cycling team until the end of the 2010 season. For 2011 he left Omega Pharma–Lotto to take up a position with the Australian Pegasus Sports Racing team. The team folded before making its debut. Olaf Ludwig (born 13 April 1960 in Gera, Bezirk Gera) is a former German racing cyclist. His career began at the SG Dynamo Gera / Sportvereinigung (SV) Dynamo. As an East German, he raced as an amateur until reunification of Germany allowed him to become professional with Panasonic team. As a sprinter, the highlight of his career was winning the points classification in the 1990 Tour de France. Other highlights include the Olympic road race in Seoul in 1988, a record 38 stage victories in the Peace Race, winning the Amstel Gold Race in 1992, and podium placings in the Paris–Roubaix. He also won the 1992 UCI Road World Cup. In 1992 he won the Champs Elysees stage in the Tour de France and won the third Tour stage of his career the following year. Nicolaas ("Nico") Cornelis Maria Verhoeven (born 2 October 1961 in Berkel-Enschot, North Brabant) is a retired road bicycle racer from the Netherlands, who was a professional rider from 1985 to 1995. He represented his native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, in the individual road race where he didn't finish the race. Franco Ballerini (11 December 1964 – 7 February 2010) was an Italian road racing cyclist. Born in Florence, his greatest exploits as a rider came with his two victories in the cycling classic Paris–Roubaix, riding for the Mapei cycling team. In 1993 he was beaten on the line by Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle in an exciting Paris–Roubaix finale. Also on his palmarès or list of accomplishments there are other one-day races such as Omloop Het Volk and Paris–Brussels. Ballerini then became manager of the Italian national cycling squad, winning the 2002 World Championships with Mario Cipollini and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens with ex-teammate Paolo Bettini.
