Board Game
Board games are tabletop games that typically use . These pieces are moved or placed on a pre-marked board (playing surface) and often include elements of table, card, role-playing, and miniatures games as well. Many board games feature a competition between two or more players. To show a few examples: in checkers (British English name 'draughts'), a player wins by capturing all opposing pieces, while Eurogames often end with a calculation of final scores. '' Pandemic'' is a cooperative game where players all win or lose as a team, and peg solitaire is a puzzle for one person. There are many varieties of board games. Their representation of real-life situations can range from having no inherent theme, such as checkers, to having a specific theme and narrative, such as ''Cluedo''. Rules can range from the very simple, such as in snakes and ladders; to deeply complex, as in ''Advanced Squad Leader''. Play components now often include custom figures or shaped counters, and distin ...

Ragnar Brothers released a revised version of the game, ''A Brief History of the World'', in 2009. The game was then handed to Z-Man Games who created the most recent edition in 2018. Gameplay The game is played in seven rounds known as epochs (6 e ...

Tantrix
''Tantrix'' is a hexagonal tile-based abstract game invented by Mike McManaway from New Zealand. Each of the 56 different tiles in the set contains three lines, going from one edge of the tile to another. No two lines on a tile have the same colour. There are four colours in the set: red, yellow, blue, and green. No two tiles are identical, and each is individually numbered from 1 through 56. Gameplay In the multiplayer version of the game, each player chooses a colour, so there are between two and four players. Each draws one tile from the bag, and the person who draws the highest number goes first. Each player then takes five more tiles from the bag, and places all six tiles face up in front of them. The first person plays one tile, usually with their colour on it. Play then rotates clockwise. After playing a tile, each player takes a replacement tile from the bag, so that they always have six in front of them. Tiles played must match the colour of the edges adjoining i ...

Tales From The Floating Vagabond
''Tales from the Floating Vagabond'' is a science-fiction role-playing game by Lee Garvin, published by Avalon Hill in 1991. It has the tagline "Ludicrous Adventure in a Universe Whose Natural Laws Are Out To Lunch". Overview The game takes a comedic approach to the genre, encouraging the gamemaster to begin each adventure in an outer space bar called the Floating Vagabond. Players choose from races such as humans, elves, Disgustingly Cute Furry Things, and Dogmen, learn skills like "Look Good at All Times" and "Projectile Vomiting", and consume dangerous beverages containing toxic substances such as a singularity. The flexibility of the rules system allows for making characters from any genre, epoch, or world, as well as creating new races and superheroes. One of the more memorable aspects of the game is a system of shticks that players can choose from, including: *The Rambo Effect: The player can dodge automatic gunfire at close range (and only at close range). *The Trenc ...

Space Fleet
''Space Fleet'' is a board game for 2-4 players, published in 1991 by Games Workshop and designed by Jervis Johnson and Andy Jones. The game is set in the Games Workshop fictional Warhammer 40,000 universe and is centered on combat between spacecraft. It can be seen as a fore-runner to '' Battlefleet Gothic''. Gameplay Each player takes a combat display, which shows the ship's 4 fire arcs. Each individual fire arc is a 90 degree arc of a circle covering the front, sides and rear of the ship. 12 shield tokens are then distributed amongst the fire arcs by the player. 4 Damage tokens are placed on the centre of the combat display, and the players' ships are set up at opposite ends of the board. Players chose a movement option secretly on their helm computer chart. The movement options varies from moving 0-2 squares and changing a ship's facing. Ships are then moved simultaneously, with any ships that end up in the same square being considered to have rammed each other. Ramm ...

Set (game)
''Set'' (stylized as ''SET'') is a real-time card game designed by Marsha Falco in 1974 and published by Set Enterprises in 1991. The deck consists of 81 unique cards that vary in four features across three possibilities for each kind of feature: number of shapes (one, two, or three), shape (diamond, squiggle, oval), shading (solid, striped, or open), and color (red, green, or purple). Each possible combination of features (e.g. a card with three striped green diamonds) appears as a card precisely ''once'' in the deck. In the game, certain combinations of three cards are said to make up a set. For each one of the four categories of features — color, number, shape, and shading — the three cards must display that feature as either a) all the same, or b) all different. Put another way: For each feature the three cards must ''avoid'' having two cards showing one version of the feature and the remaining card showing a different version. For example, 3 solid red diamonds, 2 soli ...

Rave (board Game)
''Rave'' is a board game that was created by WOW Enterprises in 1991. The game is based on the subcultural dance movement of the early 1990s. The game was created by Patrick Treloar (MD of Wow Enterprises) and designed by The Style Bandits (amongst others) It contains a section designed by Jamie Hewlett of Gorillaz and ''Tank Girl'' fame. It went on to sell over 20,000 copies until it was withdrawn from the shelves by WH Smith when the store was made aware of its overtly adult content. The idea of the game was to drive around looking for fliers and energi ictablets. Once the player had accumulated enough energi tablets, they could then proceed to their rave and dance, until they collected all three sections of the WOW Triptych. WOW Enterprises are now engaged in the design and creation of an MMORPG based around the game. Two years after the game's launch in 1991, the two millionth ''Nightmare'' board game was sold. Since then, three game expansions have been released.
