1991 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Senior Men's Race
The Senior men's race at the 1991 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held in Antwerp, Belgium, at the Linkeroever Racecourse on March 24, 1991. IAAF
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Included in its charge are the standardization of rules and regulations for the sports, certification of athletic facilities, recognition and management of world records, and the organisation and sanctioning of athletics competitions, including the World Athletics Championships. Vincent Rousseau
Vincent Rousseau (born 29 July 1962 in Mons, Hainaut) is a former long-distance runner from Belgium, who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1984. In 1993, he had his biggest success by winning the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Brussels, the next year followed by the first place in the Rotterdam Marathon. Twice (1985 and 1993) Rousseau was named ''Belgian Sportsman of the Year''. He had much success at the Lotto Cross Cup (Belgium's annual cross country running series) and was the overall season winner five times consecutively between 1983–88 and he earned a further three consecutive wins between 1990 and 1993. Martín Fiz
Martín Fiz Martín (born 3 March 1963 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava) is a long-distance runner from Spain, who won the marathon at the 1994 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki and repeated his success at the 1995 World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. The same year he captured the title in the Rotterdam Marathon. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta Fiz came fourth in the marathon. A year later he won a silver medal at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics in Athens, finishing behind his countryman Abel Anton. He competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1992. Fiz has continued running into masters age divisions, setting the world M55 record in the road 10K at 31:36 on January 13, 2019 in Valencia. Mathias Ntawulikura
Mathias Ntawulikura (born 14 June 1964 in Gisovu/ Kibuye) is a retired Rwandan long-distance runner. He reached the World Athletics Championships final and participated in the Olympic Games in the 5000 metres (1988) and 10,000 metres (1992, 1996) and marathon (2000, 2004). He also participated five times in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. His best Olympic performance was 8th in the 10,000 m at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, a race where the top eight positions were taken by (six) African countries. He was forty when he competed in the marathon at the 2004 Athens Olympics; of the hundred men who started the race, he came 62nd with a time of 2hours, 26 minutes, 5 seconds. Antonio Fabián Silio Alaguire (born 9 May 1966) is a retired long-distance runner from Argentina. He competed in three editions of the World Championships in Athletics (1991 to 1995), racing in the 10,000 metres. His best result was 8th in 1993. He also finished in the top six of three World Half Marathon Championships (1992, 1993, 1998), finishing second in the inaugural World Half Marathon Championships in 1992. Stephen James "Steve" Moneghetti, (born 26 September 1962), is an Australian long-distance runner and physical health consultant, represented Australia on many occasions. Moneghetti has a degree in civil engineering, a graduate diploma in education and an honorary doctorate from the University of Ballarat. He is a personal development consultant with the Ministry of Education and chair of the Victorian Review into Physical and Sport Education in Schools. Moneghetti was born in Ballarat, Victoria, and was not considered to be a good runner in primary school. When he attempted to join Little Athletics, his father was told that Moneghetti was not wanted. However, by high school (St Patrick's College, Ballarat) he had developed into an excellent endurance athlete and was well on his way to becoming one of Australia's greatest marathon runners.
