French Championship
The French rugby league championship (french: Le Championnat de France de Rugby à XIII) has been the major rugby league tournament for semi-professional and professional clubs in France since the sport was introduced to the country in the 1930s. Except for the first season, a play-off structure leading to a championship final has always been used to determine the fate of the championship. Because the French rugby league championship has several divisions where the teams will change each year depending on final standings and relegation/promotion there have been many teams in the French rugby league championship since its inception. The championship is divided into several divisions; the top league is currently titled Elite One Championship (French: ''Le Championnat de France Elite''). Cyrille Pons (born 28 November 1963) is a French former rugby league player. Biography He mostly spent his sports career with Saint-Gaudens with which he won the Championnat de France in 1991 and the Lord Derby Cup (1991 and 1992). Due to his club performances, he became a regular player for the France national team between 1987 and 1992, playing the 1989-1992 Rugby League World Cup. After his career, he became a manager of the France national rugby league team. Peter Martin (rugby League)
Peter Martin is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s. He played for North Sydney and Parramatta in the NSWRL competition. He also played for York in England. Playing career Martin made his first-grade debut for North Sydney in round 2 of the 1985 NSWRL season against Illawarra at the Wollongong Showground. During the NSWRL off-season, Martin signed for English side York and played in their 1985-1986 season which ended with the club finishing in 14th place and being relegated to the second division.
