Music Of Norway
Much has been learned about early music in Norway from physical artifacts found during archaeological digs. These include instruments such as the lur. Viking and medieval sagas also describe musical activity, as do the accounts of priests and pilgrims from all over Europe coming to visit St Olaf's grave in Trondheim. In the later part of the 19th century, Norway experienced economic growth leading to greater industrialization and urbanization. More music was made in the cities, and opera performances and symphony concerts were considered to be of high standards. In this era both prominent composers (like Edvard Grieg and Johan Svendsen) and performers combined the European traditions with Norwegian tones. The import of music and musicians for dance and entertainment grew, and this continued in the 20th century, even more so when gramophone records and radio became common. Mette Henriette Martedatter Rølvåg is a performing artist, saxophonist and composer from Norway. Background Mette Henriette grew up in Trondheim surrounded by a vibrant music scene and she got involved with performing arts at a young age, establishing her own ensembles and touring with musicians from jazz conservatories in Norway and New York, before she left her hometown to work on commissions and projects Internationally. Since then Mette Henriette has been living and working in New York, London, Paris, Svalbard and Oslo. Marthe Haaland Wang (born 25 October 1990 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and the cousin of upright bassist Ellen Andrea Wang. Torgeir Standal
Torgeir Hovden Standal (born 23 July 1990) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist. Career Standall was raised in Ørsta, nearby Ålesund but moved to Oslo in 2011. He soon met with Natalie Sandtorv and they started The Jist, a duo projects where the guitar meets vocals. After two years of collaboration on a series of performances they released the self-titled debut album (2014). The album was recorded in Bergen, and John Hegre known from Jazzkammer, controlled the mixing and mastering. In 2014 he toured with The Jist and played a gig at Madame Claude, Berlin. In 2015 they was well received at the 2015 Match & Fuse Festival in Warsaw and also gave concerts in Torino. Dagny Norvoll Sandvik (born 23 July 1990), known mononymously as Dagny, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Ole Mofjell (born 11 July 1990) is a Norwegian drummer known from bands like Brute Force and COKKO, married July 29, 2016, to singer Natalie Sandtorv. Career Mofjell was born in Søgne, and started his drumming career when given a sharp drum for his sixth birthday by his father. Ingebjørg Harman Bratland (born 8 May 1990 in Edland, Vinje, Telemark) is a Norwegian folk singer, kveder and artist. In 2008–2009, she attended Foss Upper Secondary School in Oslo. Early life Bratland began singing as a kveder when she was five years old, and was notable for her ability to perform folk songs, stev and ballads. Eldbjørg Hemsing
Eldbjørg Hemsing (born 16 February 1990 in Nord-Aurdal, Norway) is a Norwegian violinist who has been since the age of 11, with her solo debut with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
