1990 NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The 1990 NCAA men's volleyball tournament was the 21st annual tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA men's collegiate volleyball. The tournament was played at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia during May 1990. USC defeated Long Beach State in the final match, 3–1 (15–10, 12–15, 15–4, 15–6), to win their fourth national title. The Trojans (26–7) were coached by Jim McLaughlin. USC's Bryan Ivie was named the tournament's ''Most Outstanding Player''. Ivie, along with five other players, comprised the ''All-Tournament Team''. Qualification Until the creation of the NCAA Men's Division III Volleyball Championship in 2012, there was only a single national championship for men's volleyball. USC Trojans Men's Volleyball
USC Trojans men's volleyball is a collegiate volleyball team that represents the University of Southern California (USC). The team participates as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), an athletic conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1970 and first awarded schlorships during the 1976–77 season. The program has won the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship four times, and placed second seven times. Home games are played at Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles, California. Venues The North Gym, located in the USC Physical Education Building, was the team's home court from 1970 until 1988. NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The NCAA men's volleyball tournament, officially titled the NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship, is an annual competition that determines the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship in American college men's volleyball. It had been the only NCAA championship in the sport from 1970 until 2012, when the NCAA launched a Division III championship. Unlike most NCAA sports, men's volleyball uses a modified version of the National Collegiate championship format, which means Division I and Division II teams compete against each other in the same tournament. The NCAA Division III women's volleyball tournament is the annual event that decides the championships in women's volleyball from teams in Division III contested by the NCAA each winter since 1981 except in 2020, when all D-III championship events were canceled due to COVID-19. The NCAA Division II women's volleyball tournament is the annual event that decides the championship contested by the NCAA. It determines the national champion of Division II women's collegiate volleyball. It has been held annually since 1981, typically played in December after the fall regular season (the men's championship, conversely, is held in the spring). The most recent champions are the West Texas A&M Buffaloes, who won their fourth title in 2022, their first since 1997. Mark Kerins (volleyball)
Mark Kerins (born 1979) is an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward for the Galway senior team. Born in Clarinbridge, County Galway, Kerins first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Galway minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior team for the 1999 championship. Kerins went on to play a bit part for Galway at various times for almost a decade, and won one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Connacht inter-provincial team at various times, Kerins won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he is a one-time All-Ireland medallist with Clarinbridge. In addition to this he also won one Connacht medal and two championship medals. Brent Hilliard
Brent William Hilliard (born April 13, 1970) is an American volleyball player and coach who competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics. He was born in San Gabriel, California. In 1991 he led Long Beach State to its first NCAA Men's Volleyball Volleyball championship. In 1992 he was a member of the American team which won the bronze medal in the Olympic tournament. Hilliard was Associate Coach for women's volleyball at the University of San Diego for two decades and is currently head coach for women's volleyball at San Diego State University. Kevin Shepard (volleyball)
Tonic is an American rock band, formed in 1993 by Emerson Hart and Jeff Russo. Later members have included Dan Lavery, Kevin Shepard, and Dan Rothchild. Signed to a recording contract in 1995, the band released its debut album ''Lemon Parade'' in 1996. The single "If You Could Only See" reached No. 11 on the ''Billboard'' Airplay Hot 100 in 1997, and ''Lemon Parade'' itself reached platinum status. Tonic spent much of the next two years touring, adding to its reputation as a relentlessly gigging band. In addition to extensive touring Tonic produced other work, including songs for feature film soundtracks. After self-producing its 1999 album ''Sugar'', Tonic released its third album ''Head on Straight'' in 2002. Jason Perkins (volleyball)
Jason Andre Perkins (born September 20, 1992) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Personal life Perkins is the youngest of three siblings. His father is an African-American, while his mother, Jennifer (''née'' Cahigas), is a Filipina, who hails from Bolinao, Pangasinan. Perkins' interest in sports began at a young age and he played basketball and football as a child. He has a wife and a daughter. High school career Perkins attended at Shakopee High School in Shakopee, Minnesota, where he suited up for the Sabers boys basketball team.
