1990 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship
The 1990 tournament championship game was played at Rutgers University in front of 19,070 fans. The Syracuse Orangemen defeated the Loyola Greyhounds, 21–9. Tournament overview Syracuse's participation in the tournament was later vacated by the NCAA Committee on infractions. Syracuse was found to have violated rules when coach Roy Simmons, Jr.'s wife Nancy Simmons co-signed a car loan with Paul Gait. Roy Simmons, Jr.'s 3-0 record as well as Paul Gait's 7 goals and 7 assists in this tournament are not recognized by the NCAA. This Syracuse team is notable for being undefeated and featuring the Gait brothers, Paul and Gary Gait as well as hall-of-famer Tom Marechek, and is generally considered one of the best teams in NCAA lacrosse history. NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship
The NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament determines the annual top men's field lacrosse team in the NCAA Division I. This tournament has determined the national champion since the inaugural 1971 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. From 1936 through 1970, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) awarded the Wingate Memorial Trophy annually to the collegiate champion based on regular season records. Darren Lowe (lacrosse)
Darren Lowe was a three-time All-American NCAA lacrosse player at Brown University from 1989 to 1992 who led his team to three straight NCAA tournament quarterfinal appearances. Career Highlights During Lowe's four years at Brown, the team compiled a record of 45 wins and 16 losses, with the 1991 squad compiling a 13 and 1 record. The 1991 team went undefeated during the regular season and received a number two seeding in the NCAA tournament before finally falling to Maryland in the quarterfinals. Brown made the NCAA tournament in three out of Lowe's four seasons, with a tournament record of two wins and three losses. Lowe holds the 5th highest total in NCAA Division I with 316 career points. Charley Toomey
Charley Toomey is an American lacrosse coach. He is currently the head coach for the Loyola Greyhounds men's lacrosse team at Loyola University Maryland. Playing career He played for Loyola as a goalkeeper and helped bring them to the school's first NCAA final in 1990. He also played professionally for both the Baltimore Thunder and the original Boston Blazers, although he only played in three games during the two years he played. Coaching career As head coach of the Loyola Greyhounds, he led the team to win the NCAA D1 lacrosse championship on May 28, 2012, completing the year with an 18 and 1 record. The Princeton Tigers men's lacrosse team represents Princeton University in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse play.
