The 1990 FIVB Men's World Championship was the twelfth edition of the tournament, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB. It was held from 18 to 28 October 1990 in Brazil. Fernando Collor De Mello
Fernando Affonso Collor de Mello (; born 12 August 1949) is a Brazilian politician who served as the 32nd president of Brazil from 1990 to 1992, when he resigned in a failed attempt to stop his impeachment trial by the Brazilian Senate. Collor was the first President democratically elected after the end of the Brazilian military government. He became the youngest president in Brazilian history, taking office at the age of 40. After he resigned from the presidency, the impeachment trial on charges of corruption continued. Collor was found guilty by the Senate and disqualified from holding elected office for eight years (1992–2000). Nilson Nelson Gymnasium
The Nilson Nelson Gymnasium (Ginásio Nilson Nelson) is an indoor sporting arena used mostly for volleyball located in Brasília, Brazil, which is near the Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha. Both are part of the Ayrton Senna Sports Complex. The capacity of the arena is 11,105 spectators and it was built in 1973. The hall was designed by Cláudio Cianciarullo and opened on April 21, 1973. From 1973 to 2008, the arena had a capacity of 24,286 seats. In 2008, the multi-purpose arena was renovated and reduced the spectator capacity to 11,105 seats. It is used mainly for indoor sports, and was the secondary venue at 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Andrea Lucchetta
Andrea Lucchetta (born November 25, 1962) is an Italian former volleyball player who was World champion with his national team in 1990. He was born in Treviso, Italy, and is nicknamed "Crazy Lucky" for his bizarre hair style. Standing at 199 cm (6'6"), he played as middle blocker/hitter. Lucchetta debuted in Italian Major League in 1982 with Panini Modena, where he remained until 1990, winning five Italian titles and one European Champions Cup. With the Italian team he gained 292 caps, winning a World Title, a European title (1989), and three World Leagues (1990, 1991 and 1992). Andrea Giani
Andrea Giani (born 22 April 1970) is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player who scored numerous successes in the 1990s, including three World Championships with his national team. He is considered one of the best volleyball players ever. He was an all-rounder able to play both as outside hitter and as middle blocker, but he played several times as opposite too. Career Giani’s father, Dario, was a rower who took part in the 1964 Summer Olympics for Italy. Andrea Gardini (born 1 October 1965) is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player, a silver (Atlanta 1996) and bronze (Sydney 2000) Olympic Games medallist, three–time World Champion (1990, 1994, 1998), and four–time European Champion ( 1989, 1993, 1995, 1999). Ferdinando De Giorgi
Ferdinando De Giorgi (born 10 October 1961) is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player, a participant in the Olympic Games Seoul 1988, three–time World Champion (1990, 1994, 1998), and the 1989 European Champion. He currently serves as head coach for the Italy national team. De Giorgi is the second person in the world to have won World Championship both as a player and a coach. Luca Cantagalli (born 11 August 1965 in Cavriago) is an Italian volleyball former player who was twice World champion with his national team in 1990 and 1994. Marco Bracci (born August 23, 1966 in Fucecchio, province of Florence) is a former Italian volleyball player, ranked amongst the world's most valuable players of the late 1980s and 1990s. A 197 cm athlete, Bracci played as passer-hitter. Bracci made his debut for the Italy national team on May 6, 1988. Lorenzo Bernardi (born 11 August 1968) is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player, a silver medallist at the Olympic Games Atlanta 1996, two–time World Champion (1990, 1994), and a two–time European Champion ( 1989, 1995). Andrea Anastasi (born 8 October 1960) is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player. He was a member of the Italy national team from 1981 to 1991.
