The 1989–90 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University during the 1989–90 college basketball season. Led by head coach Gene Keady, the team finished second in the Big Ten regular season standings. Gene Keady
Lloyd Eugene Keady (born May 21, 1936) is an American basketball coach. He is best known for his 25 years serving as the head men's basketball coach at Purdue University in Indiana. In his tenure leading the Boilermakers from 1980 to 2005, he went to the NCAA Tournament seventeen times, twice advancing to the Elite Eight. Personal life Keady was born in Larned, Kansas on May 21, 1936. He graduated from Larned High School. He had two children with his first wife. He married his second wife, Patricia, in 1981 and adopted her daughter. They were married until her death in 2009. He has been married since 2012 to Kathleen Petrie. Playing career Kansas State Keady's father instilled in him a passion for sports. This became evident as Keady was a four-sport athlete at Garden City Junior College in Garden City, Kansas. The 1989–90 Illinois State Redbirds men's basketball team represented Illinois State University during the 1989–90 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Redbirds, led by first year head coach Bob Bender, played their first full season of home games at Redbird Arena and were members of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Redbirds finished the season 18–13, 9–5 in conference play to finish in a three-way tie for second place. They were the number two seed for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament by virtue of holding tie-breakers over Creighton University and Tulsa University. They defeated Drake University in the quarterfinal round, Creighton University in the semifinal round, and Southern Illinois University in the final round to win the championship (their second in the conference). The 1989–90 Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin as a member of the Big Ten Conference during the 1989–90 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by Steve Yoder, coaching his eighth season with Wisconsin. The Badgers finished 14-17, 4-14 in Big Ten play to finish in eighth place. Offseason Yoder's top assistant Brad McNulty, suspended without pay since August 1, 1989, was fired just prior to his eighth season at Wisconsin for billing personal phone calls to the university from January 1988 to May 1989. McKale Center
McKale Memorial Center is an athletic arena in the Southwestern United States, southwest United States, located on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. As the home of the university's Arizona Wildcats men's basketball, Wildcats basketball team of the Pac-12 Conference, it is primarily used for College basketball, basketball, but also has physical training and therapy facilities. Its construction is marked with a large copper cap that has oxidized brown. In the 1960s, it was recognized that the Wildcats' basketball venue, Bear Down Gym, Bear Down Gymnasium, was outdated and in need of replacement. Major planning for the new facility began in 1966.
