The president of Mexico ( es, link=no, Presidente de México), officially the president of the United Mexican States ( es, link=no, Presidente de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos), is the head of state and head of government of Mexico. Under the Constitution of Mexico, the president heads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the Mexican Armed Forces. The current president is Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who took office on 1 December 2018. The office of the president is considered to be revolutionary, in the sense that the powers of office are derived from the Revolutionary Constitution of 1917. Manuel Bartlett Díaz
Manuel Bartlett Díaz (born 23 February 1936) is a Mexican politician, and the current director of the public energy company CFE, and former Secretary of the Interior. Bartlett was elected to the Senate of the Republic for the 2000–2006 term, where he became known as one of the most staunch defenders of state ownership of electric utilities. On May 27, 2006, in view of the low possibility of Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) candidate Roberto Madrazo winning the Presidency, Bartlett declared that he would vote for Andrés Manuel López Obrador, then candidate for the Party of the Democratic Revolution, to avoid a right-wing victory. Madrazo and the national leader of the PRI, Mariano Palacios, both condemned these declarations, and announced the possible expulsion of Bartlett from the party. Ernesto Ruffo Appel
Ernesto Ruffo Appel (born 25 June 1952) is a Mexican politician, who served as the 10th Governor of Baja California from 1989 to 1995. A member of the National Action Party (PAN), Ruffo was the first state governor not affiliated with the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) since 1929. Born in San Diego, California, to Mexican parents, Ruffo attended elementary school in the coastal town of Ensenada in the state of Baja California. He attended college at the Monterrey campus of the ITESM graduating with a bachelor's degree in business. He became a member of PAN in 1982 and was elected municipal president of the municipality of Ensenada (the biggest municipality in Mexico with 51,952 km²) in 1986. Oscar Baylón Chacón (1929 – August 10, 2020) was a Mexican politician, member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party and served as Senator of the Republic and Governor of Baja California. Oscar Baylón Chacón was an agronomist graduate of the Escuela Superior de Agricultura "Hermanos Escobar" in Ciudad Juárez, and at his own expense was transferred to Baja California, where he initiated a political career that carried him to be director of works of the territory, municipal president of Tecate from 1959 to 1962, director of land registry, deputy congressperson of Baja California from 1965 to 1968 and chief clerk of the government. In 1976, he was chosen as Senator of the Republic until 1982 and on January 6, 1989 was appointed Governor of Baja California to replace Xicoténcatl Leyva Mortera. The governor of Baja California represents the executive branch of the government of the state of Baja California, Mexico, per the state's constitution. The official title is "Free and Sovereign State of Baja California" (''Estado Libre y Soberano de Baja California''), and the position is democratically elected for a period of 6 years, and is not re-electable. From 1953 to 2019, the governor's term began November 1 of the year of the election and finishes October 31, six years later. Miguel Ángel Barberena Vega (4 August 1928 – 16 June 1999) was a Mexican Naval officer and politician. Early life Miguel Ángel Barberena Vega was born in Jesús María, Aguascalientes, the capital city of the Free and Sovereign State of Aguascalientes, Mexico, on August 4, 1928. (One source asserts he was born in Madrid, Spain, on that same date).) He spent his childhood in an old Hacienda called "Los Cuartos". He died at Pabellón de Arteaga, Aguascalientes in June 1999. Jesús Kumate Rodríguez (13 November 1924 – 7 May 2018) was a Mexican physician and politician. He served as the Secretary of Health during the Presidency of Carlos Salinas de Gortari. Early life and education Kumate Rodríguez was born in Mazatlán in 1924 to a Japanese emigrant father and a Sinaloense mother who worked as a rural teacher.
