The 1989 Kansas City Royals season was a season in American baseball. It involved the Royals finishing second in the American League West with a record of 92 wins and 70 losses. American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 (when the NL West expanded to five teams) to 2012, the AL West was the only MLB division with four teams. The current champion of this division is the Houston Astros. José DeJesús
José Luis DeJesús (born January 6, 1965) is an American former professional baseball right-handed starting pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1988 to 1994, with the Kansas City Royals and Philadelphia Phillies. DeJesús batted right-handed. In 1988 and 1989, DeJesús played in only five games for the Kansas City Royals, with an 0–1 record. He played 1990 and 1991 with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he went 7–8 and 10–9, respectively. After a sitting out the 1992 season with injuries, DeJesús rehabbed in the Phillies’ farm system, in 1993. In 1994, he returned to the Royals, posting a 3–1 record. Steve Crawford (baseball)
Steven Ray Crawford (born April 29, 1958) is a former pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for two teams from 1980 through 1991. Listed at , he batted and threw right-handed. Crawford started his professional career with Winston-Salem in the Class-A Carolina League. He pitched in 19 games, started 14, and sported a 9–5 record with a 3.44 ERA. One of his teammates, Michael Moore, called Crawford “Shag” because of his bushy long hair and mustache, and the nickname stuck. A versatile hard-thrower, Crawford filled various relief roles coming out from the bullpen, as a closer or middle reliever, serving as an emergency starter as well. Luis Antonio Colón Aquino h-KEE-noh(born May 19, 1965) is a Puerto Rican former middle relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Toronto Blue Jays (1986), Kansas City Royals (1988–1992), Florida Marlins (1993–1994), Montreal Expos (1995) and San Francisco Giants (1995). Career Aquino signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as an amateur free agent in 1981 and made his major league debut with Toronto in 1986. He was later traded to the Kansas City Royals for Juan Beníquez. Darnell Coles (born June 2, 1962) is an American professional baseball player and current hitting coach for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB).
