The 1988 Shell Rimula-X Diesel Oilers season was the 4th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as Shell Helix Oilers in the Open Conference. Joe Lipa
Jose "Joe" Lipa, Jr. is a Filipino basketball coach and executive who currently coaching the Terrafirma Dyip's 3x3 team in the PBA 3x3. Lipa formerly coached his alma mater, the University of the Philippines, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines men's basketball. He also had a head coaching stint for the Manila Beer Brewmasters, Ateneo Blue Eagles, the Shell Turbo Chargers and the FedEx Express of the professional Philippine Basketball Association. Lipa is also a former head coach of the national basketball team of the Philippines, coaching the team to a bronze medal finish in the 1986 Asian Games. He was also named the Commissioner of the UAAP for its basketball tournament in 2005. Shell Turbo Chargers
The Shell Turbo Chargers were a Philippine Basketball Association team from 1985 to 2005. It won four PBA championships, two from 1998 to 1999. Shell sold its franchise to PBL team Welcoat Dragons, Welcoat Paints in February 2006. The 1988 PBA season, 1988 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) PBA Reinforced Conference, Reinforced Conference was the third and last conference of the 1988 PBA season. It started on October 2 and ended on December 13, 1988. The tournament is an Import-laden format, which requires two imports with a combined ceiling of 12 ft. 8 in. for each team. Vincent Askew
Vincent Jerome Askew (born February 28, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player who played for nine seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for eight different teams. A 6'6" guard-forward, Askew played college basketball for Memphis State University. He was raised by his grandmother who had 13 kids and custody of Askew and three cousins. College career Askew was a Frayser High School graduate before enrolling at Memphis State University. He was a key player on the Tigers' 1984–85 squad that reached the Final Four. Durand Macklin
Durand "Rudy" Macklin (born February 19, 1958) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'7" forward from Louisville, Kentucky, Macklin played at Louisiana State University from 1976 to 1981. In his very first game for LSU, he grabbed 32 rebounds against Tulane University. He missed most of the 1978–79 season because of an ankle injury, but recovered, and was named an NCAA First Team All-American in 1980 and 1981. As a senior, he was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and led LSU to the NCAA Final Four. He graduated as LSU's all-time leading rebounder (1,276) and second-all-time leading scorer (2,080). In 1981, Macklin was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 52nd overall pick of the NBA draft. Freddie Hubalde
Alfredo Hubalde (born September 14, 1953), also known as Freddie Hubalde, is a retired Filipino professional basketball player in the PBA. Collegiate career Hubalde played college ball for the Mapúa Institute of Technology, before eventually moving on to play professional basketball in the PBA. He also has the distinction of being one of the few NCAA high school players playing for the senior team during his stay with Mapua. Professional career Hubalde started his PBA career with the Crispa Redmanizers, and was part of two Crispa grand slam teams in 1976 and 1983. The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, or simply known as the Magnolia Hotshots, are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association. The team is owned by San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc., a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation (SMC). Edmundo "Dante" S. Silverio, Sr. (born October 17, 1937), is a Filipino people, Filipino painter, former basketball coach and former champion race car driver. Motorsports Silverio rose to prominence in 1972, when he captured a rare double feat, winning the International Greenhills Grand Prix and, two months later, the Royal Rally of Champions.
