Municipal Council
A municipal council is the legislative body of a municipality or local government area. Depending on the location and classification of the municipality it may be known as a city council, town council, town board, community council, rural council, village council, or board of aldermen. Australia Because of the differences in legislation between the states, the exact definition of a city council varies. However, it is generally only those local government areas which have been specifically granted city status (usually on a basis of population) that are entitled to refer to themselves as cities. The official title is "Corporation of the City of ______" or similar. Some of the urban areas of Australia are governed mostly by a single entity (see Brisbane and other Queensland cities), while others may be controlled by a multitude of much smaller city councils. Also, some significant urban areas can be under the jurisdiction of otherwise rural local governments. Periodic re-alignm ... Communities Of Chartered Regime
The constitution of Spain of 1978 allowed for the nationalities and regions that make up the Spanish nation to accede to self-government and be constituted as autonomous communities,First article. which became the first-order political and territorial division of the Spanish territory. Both the process whereby the nationalities and regions were to accede to self-government and the scope of competences that were to be devolved or transferred from the central government, were intended to be asymmetrical in nature. One of the main differences was established in the first additional provision of the constitution, after much debate in the Spanish Parliament acting as a Constituent Assembly. This provision established a protection and respect for the historical rights of the territories that had ''fueros'', "charters", "privileges" or "jurisdictions", which were to be "updated" within the framework of the constitution. These territories were Álava, Gipuzkoa, Biscay and Navarre. The fir ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Provinces Of Spain
A province in Spain * es, provincias, ; sing. ''provincia'') * Basque (, sing. ''probintzia''. * Catalan (), sing. ''província''. * Galician (), sing. ''provincia''. is a territorial division defined as a collection of municipalities, although their origin dates back to 1833 with a similar predecessor from 1822 (during the Trienio Liberal) and with roots in the Napoleonic division of Spain into 84 prefectures in 1810. In addition to their political function, provinces are commonly used today as geographical references for example to disambiguate small towns whose names occur frequently throughout Spain. There are many other groupings of municipalities that comprise the local government of Spain. The boundaries of provinces can only be altered by the Spanish Parliament, giving rise to the common view that the 17 autonomous communities are ''subdivided'' into 50 provinces. In reality the system is not hierarchical but defined according to jurisdiction ( es, compet ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

History Coalition CG was born as an electoral coalition for the municipal elections of 1983, formed by the Partido Galeguista (PG) and ex-members of the UCD after the disaster of the party in the 1982 elections. In A Coruña and Lugo the candidacy was called "Partido Galeguista-Converxencia de Independientes de Galicia" and in Ourense "Partido Galeguista-Centristas de Ourense". In the Province of Pontevedra the PG and the ex-members of the UCD presented separated lists. Partido Galeguista (1978)
The Partido Galeguista ( en, Galicianist Party) was a Galician party founded in 1978, referring to itself as the historical descendant of the Partido Galeguista in the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1939). History After the electoral failure of the coalition of the Galician People's Party and the Galician Social-Democratic Party, members of both decided to re-form the Partido Galeguista, convoking a conference in November 1978. In the Spanish General and regional elections of 1979, the party formed a coalition called the Unidade Galega and supported a "Yes" vote in the referendum for the Statute that granted autonomy to Galicia in 1980. At the Party conference in June 1981, the Partido Galeguista's policies took a right-wing turn, and Álvarez Gándara was chosen as president. The left-wing faction of the Party, led by Luís Sobrado, was expelled. In the Galician elections of 1981, the party obtained 32,623 votes (3.23%), and in the municipal elections of 1983 only 10,752 v ...
