1986 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1986 Big East men's basketball tournament took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, from March 5 to March 8, 1986. Its winner received the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 1986 NCAA tournament. It is a single-elimination tournament with four rounds. St. John's had the best regular season conference record and received the #1 seed. St. John's defeated Syracuse in the championship game 70–69, to claim its second Big East tournament championship. Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or by its initials MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. Reggie Williams (basketball, Born 1964)
Reggie Williams (born March 5, 1964) is an American retired professional basketball player who played ten seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was an All-American college player at Georgetown University and was a member of their 1983–84 National Championship team. High school and college career Williams began his career as a McDonald's High School All-American while attending Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, where he played with fellow NBA players Muggsy Bogues, Reggie Lewis, and David Wingate. The 1981–82 Dunbar Poets finished the season at 29–0 during Williams's junior season and finished 31–0 during his senior season, and were ranked first in the nation by USA Today. Harold Pressley (born July 14, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player. He spent four years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Sacramento Kings between 1986 and 1990 before playing a major role in Joventut Badalona's success both in the Spanish league and the Euroleague until 1993. College After attending Saint Bernard High School in Uncasville, Connecticut, Pressley played collegiately at Villanova University and was a member of their 1985 National Championship team.
