1986 All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship
The 1986 All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship was the 65th staging of the All-Ireland Junior Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1912. Wexford entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten in the Leinster Championship. The All-Ireland final was played on 24 August 1986 at Semple Stadium in Thurles, between Kilkenny and Limerick, in what was their first ever meeting in a final. Kilkenny won the match by 1-17 to 0-15 to claim their sixth championship title overall and a first title since 1984. The 1985 All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship was the 64th staging of the All-Ireland Junior Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1912. Kilkenny entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten in the Leinster Championship. The All-Ireland final was played on 18 August 1985 at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, between Wexford and Tipperary, in what was their first ever meeting in a final. Wexford won the match by 3-09 to 1-13 to claim their first ever championship title. The Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Kilkenny GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Cill Chainnigh) is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kilkenny. Carrickmacross Emmets GAC
Carrickmacross Emmets is a Gaelic football club from Carrickmacross in County Monaghan in Ireland. The club was founded in 1887. The club participates in Monaghan competitions. The club has won the Monaghan Senior Football Championship eight times and have come runner-up seven times. The Club colours are Green and Yellow. The first club grounds played on were Athletic Grounds, then the Gaelic Grounds. In 1938 the club moved to its present grounds at Emmet Park, which was developed into one of the best venues in the county. It was officially opened in 1953 when Monaghan played Meath. In recent years the club secured property on the Donaghmoyne Road and have developed a full size playing pitch and a training area along with modern changing facilities that can cater for four teams. At present the site is chiefly used for training purposes for adult and juvenile teams as well as ladies and hurling teams but games can be played there when necessary. UPMC Nowlan Park (; ) is the principal Gaelic Athletic Association stadium in Kilkenny, Ireland. Named after James Nowlan (the longest serving President of the GAA), the stadium hosts major hurling matches and is home to the Kilkenny hurling team. It opened in 1927 replacing St. James Park. The Semple Stadium is the home of hurling and Gaelic football for Tipperary GAA and for the province of Munster.
