1985 Australian Open – Men's Singles
Stefan Edberg defeated the two-time defending champion Mats Wilander in the final, 6–4, 6–3, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1985 Australian Open. Edberg saved two match points en route to the title, against Wally Masur in the fourth round. Stefan Edberg
Stefan Bengt Edberg (; born 19 January 1966) is a Swedish former professional tennis player. A major proponent of the serve-and-volley style of tennis, he won six Grand Slam singles titles and three Grand Slam men's doubles titles between 1985 and 1996. He is one of only two men in the Open Era to have been ranked world No. 1 in both singles and doubles (the other being John McEnroe). He also won the Masters Grand Prix and was a part of the Swedish Davis Cup-winning team four times. Michiel Schapers (born 11 October 1959) is a former tennis player from the Netherlands. John Lloyd (born 27 August 1954) is a British former professional tennis player. Lloyd reached an ATP world ranking of 21 from 23 July 1978 to 30 July 1978, and was ranked as UK number 1 in 1984 and 1985. He now works as a sports commentator.
