1984–85 St. John's Redmen Basketball Team
The 1984–85 St. John's Redmen basketball team represented St. John's University during the 1984–85 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was coached by Lou Carnesecca in his seventeenth year at the school. St. John's home games are played at Alumni Hall and Madison Square Garden and the team is a member of the Big East Conference. The team finished 31–4, with three of the four losses coming to Georgetown. Lou Carnesecca
Luigi P. Carnesecca (born January 5, 1925) is an American retired college basketball coach at St. John's University. Carnesecca also coached at the professional level, leading the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association for three seasons. Carnesecca was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992. He coached the St. John's basketball program to 526 wins and 200 losses over 24 seasons (1965–70, 1973–92). The colorful "Looie" (as he was popularly known by fans and by the media) reached the post-season in every season he coached the team, including a Final Four appearance in 1985. He was selected as the National Coach of the Year in 1983 and 1985 by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Carnesecca is widely known for his sense of humor and his signature sweaters. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School
Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School is a private, Roman Catholic, co-educational, college-preparatory high school located at 357 Clermont Avenue in the Ft. Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The school serves students in grades 9 through 12. Amityville Memorial High School is a public high school located in Amityville, New York, United States, on the south shore of Long Island. It is part of the Amityville Union Free School District, which includes the village of Amityville and portions of North Amityville and East Massapequa. The Florida Gators men's basketball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of basketball. The Gators compete in NCAA Division I's Southeastern Conference (SEC). Home games are played in the O'Connell Center, Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus. While the University of Florida's men's basketball team first took the court in 1915, the program did not receive much support from the university for several decades.
