Box Office Mojo is an American website that tracks box-office revenue in a systematic, algorithmic way. The site was founded in 1998 by Brandon Gray, and was bought in 2008 by IMDb, which itself is owned by Amazon. History Brandon Gray began the site on August 7, 1998, making forecasts of the top-10 highest-grossing films in the United States for the following weekend. To compare his forecasts to the actual results, he started posting the weekend grosses and wrote a regular column with box-office analysis. In 1999, he started to post the Friday daily box-office grosses, sourced from Exhibitor Relations, so that they were publicly available online on Saturdays and posted the Sunday weekend estimates on Sundays. ''Yentl'' is a 1983 American romantic musical drama film directed, co-written, co-produced by, and starring American entertainer Barbra Streisand. It is based on Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story "Yentl the Yeshiva Boy". The film incorporates humor and music to tell the story of an Ashkenazi Jewish girl in Poland who decides to dress and live like a boy so that she can receive an education in Talmudic law after her father dies. Guy McElwaine
Guy McElwaine (June 29, 1936 – April 2, 2008) was a former professional baseball player turned Hollywood agent, producer and studio head. He joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's publicity department in 1955 but left in 1959 to join marketing and public relations agency Rogers & Cowan. In 1964, he set up his own PR firm. He became an agent at Creative Management Associates in 1969 and was a founding partner of ICM Partners, International Creative Management when CMA merged with Ashley-Famous, International Famous Agency in 1975. He was the first agent of Steven Spielberg. While at CMA, he became vice-president of worldwide production at Warner Bros. but left after 18 months and rejoined the agency when ICM was created. He left ICM to join Columbia Pictures in 1981 and became head of production in October 1983 replacing Frank Price and lasted until April 1986. Frank Price (born May 17, 1930) is a television writer and executive during the 1950s to 1970s, and a Hollywood studio chief in the 1980s. He held a number of executive positions including head of Universal TV in the 1970s; president, and later chairman and CEO, of Columbia Pictures; and president of Universal Pictures. In the 1960s, he is credited with helping to develop the "made-for-TV movie" and the 90-minute miniseries television formats, including '' The Virginian'' (1962–1970).
