Hera (born 1 April 1983 in Reykjavík, Iceland) is a singer-songwriter from Iceland who now lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. She divides her time between her home in New Zealand and a regular European touring schedule. In 2002, she was named Best Female Singer at the Icelandic Music Awards. A unique physical characteristic is the varying facial art she applies before appearances. She says it is "inspired by moko and also by Celtic warrior paint". It is intended to represent both her Icelandic and New Zealand heritage. Sigurður Þórarinsson
Sigurdur Thorarinsson ( Icelandic: Sigurður Þórarinsson) (January 8, 1912 – February 8, 1983) was an Icelandic geologist, volcanologist, glaciologist, professor and lyricist. He is considered a pioneer in the field of tephrochronology, and he made significant contributions in many areas of geology, especially volcanology and glaciology, both in Iceland and abroad. Biography Sigurður Þórarinsson was born in Vopnafjörður in northeastern Iceland in 1912. He received his Ph.D. from Stockholm University College in 1944 and began a long and distinguished academic career as professor of geography at the University of Iceland. According to his obituary in ''The Geographical Journal'', "He was something of a polymath who contrived to take geology, geomorphology, glaciology, climatology, and archaeology in his stride." Vilmundur Gylfason (7 August 1948 – 19 June 1983) was an Icelandic politician, historian and poet. He was the son of Gylfi Þorsteinsson Gíslason and Guðrún Vilmundardóttir. Family Vilmundur's father was Gylfi Þorsteinsson Gíslason, a member of parliament, government minister and professor. His mother, Guðrún Vilmundardóttir, was a housewife and worked as a journalist for some time. Vilmundur had two brothers, Þorsteinn Gylfason the philosopher, and Þorvaldur Gylfason, an economist. Vilmundur was married to Valgerður Bjarnadóttir, daughter of Bjarni Benediktsson. Life and work Vilmundur studied at Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík, an Icelandic Junior College, from 1964 to 1968. Garðar Gunnlaugsson
Garðar Bergmann Gunnlaugsson (born 7 September 1983) is an Icelandic footballer who plays for ÍA Akranes in the Úrvalsdeild karla. He is the younger brother of Arnar Gunnlaugsson and Bjarki Gunnlaugsson. Club career Garðar was born in Akranes in western Iceland in 1983. He started his football career playing for his local team ÍA Akranes before moving to Valur in 2004. In 2007, he signed with Swedish club IFK Norrköping before moving, in August 2008, to Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia. Ólafur Ingi Skúlason
Ólafur Ingi Skúlason (born 1 April 1983) is an Icelandic former professional association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. He is the manager of Iceland national under-19 football team and the Iceland national under-15 women's team. Club career Ólafur was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, where he played for Fylkir. After the Icelandic season had come to a close, he was looking for new employment, and found it with Arsenal F.C., Arsenal on 1 July 2001. Ólafur was loaned back to Fylkir over a part of the 2003 season, and was voted the best young player in the Icelandic league 2003. His Arsenal debut came on 2 December 2003 in a 5–1 defeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., Wolverhampton Wanderers, replacing Justin Hoyte after 55 minutes of the match.
