Cardiff City F
Cardiff (; cy, Caerdydd ) is the capital and largest city of Wales. It forms a principal area, officially known as the City and County of Cardiff ( cy, Dinas a Sir Caerdydd, links=no), and the city is the eleventh-largest in the United Kingdom. Located in the south-east of Wales and in the Cardiff Capital Region, Cardiff is the county town of the historic county of Glamorgan and in 1974–1996 of South Glamorgan. It belongs to the Eurocities network of the largest European cities. A small town until the early 19th century, its prominence as a port for coal when mining began in the region helped its expansion. Eric Steele
Eric Steele (born 15 May 1954) is an English former footballer turned coach, who is currently employed as a goalkeeping coach by the Football Association, working with England's junior teams. Career Steele began his playing career as a goalkeeper at Newcastle United in 1972, where he was part of the squad that won the Anglo-Italian Cup and won caps at England under-18 level. He then joined Peterborough United, and established himself as first-choice 'keeper, setting a record for most consecutive league appearances (124). That record would later be beaten by another Peterborough player, George Boyd (144). He does however, continue to hold the most consecutive appearances in all competitions for the Posh (148). He later joined Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford, and Derby County, winning five promotions in 12 years with those clubs. Tarki Micallef
Constantinous "Tarki" Micallef (born 24 January 1961) is a Welsh former professional footballer. Career The son of a Greek restaurateur, Micallef was born in the Grangetown area of Cardiff and was a Welsh schoolboy international before joining Cardiff City as a trainee, working his way up to the first team. Micallef made his debut in December 1978 at the age of seventeen against Sheffield United, which was to be his only appearance for the Bluebirds that year. Eventually, he established himself in the team during the 1981–82 season, but moved to Newport County as part of a five-man swap deal (including John Lewis and Linden Jones) in exchange for Nigel Vaughan and Karl Elsey in September 1983. Paul Maddy
Paul Michael Maddy (born 17 August 1962) is a Welsh retired professional footballer who played in Football League, most notably for Hereford United as a midfielder. He also played League football for Cardiff City, Brentford, Chester City and was capped by Wales at U21 level. Club career A midfielder, Maddy was a product of the Cardiff City youth system and made 43 appearances and scored three goals for the club. Interspersed with spells at Swansea City, Brentford and Chester City, Maddy spent the majority of his Football League career with Fourth Division club Hereford United, for whom he made 151 appearances and scored 22 goals in three spells between 1983 and 1989. John Lewis (footballer Born 1955)
John Lewis (born 15 October 1955) is a former Welsh footballer. Career Lewis was born in Tredegar and was spotted by Cardiff City while playing for Pontllanfraith in a Welsh Football League match and was quickly offered a contract by then manager Jimmy Andrews. He made his Cardiff debut against Blackburn Rovers in September 1978. He went on to become a regular fixture in the Bluebirds line-up over the next few years before eventually leaving the club along with Linden Jones and Tarki Micallef to join Newport County in a swap deal that saw Nigel Vaughan and Karl Elsey go the other way and join Cardiff. After establishing himself in the County side he went on to become the club's player-manager when Jimmy Mullen left for Aberdeen in 1987 but could not prevent the club being relegated in the 1986–87 season and was subsequently sacked after Newport took only one point from their first six games in the following season. Paul Giles

He started his career with his hometown side Cardiff City after joining the club at the age of seven. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 in 1980 and went on to make over 25 appearances for the club in all competitions before being released in 1983 following a brief loan spell at Exeter City. He spent time playing in Holland for Excelsior Rotterdam and SVV before returning to Wales with Newport County and Merthyr Tydfil. He was appointed player-manager of League of Wales side Barry Town in 1995 and led the side to their first title in 1996. Roger Gibbins
Roger Graeme Gibbins (born 6 September 1955) is an English former professional footballer. He represented England at Schools level. Career Having represented Enfield, Middlesex and London at schools level, Gibbins began his career as an apprentice with Tottenham Hotspur, where his father Eddie had played in the early 1950s. Joining the club at the age of thirteen, he scored the winning goal for the club in the 1974 FA Youth Cup final against Huddersfield Town. He turned professional in December 1972. He spent a further two and a half seasons at White Hart Lane, but left in August 1975, to join Oxford United, without making his league debut. David Anthony Bennett (born 11 July 1959) is an English former professional footballer. He made over 200 appearances in the Football League during his career, including playing in two FA Cup Finals; 1981 for Manchester City, when he finished on the losing side, and 1987, when he produced a Man of the Match performance as Coventry City beat Tottenham Hotspur 3–2. Keith Pontin
Keith Pontin (14 June 1956 – 2 August 2020) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a central defender. Pontin began his career with Cardiff City, making nearly 200 league appearances and earning two caps for the Welsh national team. He later played for Merthyr Tydfil and Barry Town. With the latter, he won several Welsh Football League titles and was appointed club captain, winning several player awards during his spell there. Linden Jones

Phil Dwyer
Philip John Dwyer (28 October 1953 – 30 November 2021) was a Welsh professional Association football, footballer. Born in Cardiff, he began his career with his hometown club Cardiff City F.C., Cardiff City, joining the side as an apprentice in 1969. He made his professional debut for the club in October 1972, winning his first honours the same season by helping the side win the Welsh Cup. He suffered relegation with Cardiff in 1975 but helped the side win promotion back to the Football League Second Division, Second Division at the first attempt, scoring 10 goals during the season. Dwyer remained a mainstay of the side for more than a decade, becoming known by the nickname "Joe" due to his perceived resemblance to Joe Royle.
