Sam Robertson (American Football)
Sam Robertson (born February 2, 1943) is an American former college football coach. He served as the defensive coordinator for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football, Texas Tech Red Raiders during the 1978 Texas Tech Red Raiders football team, 1978 and 1979 Texas Tech Red Raiders football team, 1979 seasons under head coach Rex Dockery. Robertson left Texas Tech after he was named head coach of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football, Southwestern Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. While head coach at Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette), Robertson compiled a record of 29–34–2 from 1980 to 1985. Since leaving coaching in the 1980s, Robertson has become a real estate agent in Lafayette, Louisiana, owning Sam Robertson Real Estate Co. Cowboy Stadium
Cowboy Stadium is a 17,610-seat multi-purpose stadium in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It is home to the McNeese State Cowboys football team, and is affectionately referred to as "The Hole". It was transformed for the 2008 season to artificial turf. The playing surface is named Louis Bonnette Field, in honor of McNeese's longtime sports information director. Louis' son, Matthew, succeeded him in the post and continues to hold it as of July 2016. The playing surface was replaced prior to the 2018 football season with Hellas Matrix turf. The Louisiana–Louisiana Tech football rivalry is an inactive American college football rivalry between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (formerly the Southwestern Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, and known since the 2017–18 school year as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns). Sabine Shoe
The Sabine Shoe is the name of the bronze shoe trophy that was awarded to the winner of the annual college football game between the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (formerly the Southwestern Louisiana Bulldogs) of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly the University of Southwestern Louisiana) in Lafayette, Louisiana and the Lamar Cardinals of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. The Sabine Shoe trophy was first awarded in 1968 by the University of Southwestern Louisiana's chapter of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. The name of the bronze rivalry trophy was derived from the Sabine River that forms part of the Texas–Louisiana border. USL defeated Lamar in the 1978 edition of the rivalry game, but the Ragin' Cajuns were not awarded the trophy as it had vanished.
