1982 New York Mets Season
The 1982 New York Mets season was the 21st regular season for the Mets. They went 65–97 and finished in sixth place in the National League East. They were managed by George Bamberger. They played home games at Shea Stadium. Beginning that year, to supplement gameday broadcasts for cable viewers, Mets game broadcasts were simulcast on SportsChannel NY in addition to the usual WOR-TV telecast. National League East
The National League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. Along with the American League Central it is one of two divisions to have every member win at least one World Series title. The division was created when the National League (along with the American League) added two expansion teams and divided into two divisions, East and West effective for the 1969 season. The National League's geographical alignment was rather peculiar as its partitioning was really more north and south instead of east and west. Two teams in the Eastern Time Zone, the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds, were in the same division as teams on the Pacific coast. Alex Treviño
Alejandro Treviño Castro (born August 26, 1957) is a Mexican former professional baseball catcher. He is the younger brother of former Major League Baseball outfielder Bobby Treviño. Early years Treviño was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Tracy Jones
Tracy Donald Jones (born March 31, 1961) is a former professional baseball outfielder who played for five Major League Baseball teams from 1986 to 1991. Career Jones played at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and was drafted by the New York Mets in the 4th round of the 1982 Major League Baseball draft, 1982 amateur draft, but did not sign. Dwight Eugene Gooden (born November 16, 1964), nicknamed "Dr. K" and "Doc", is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Ricky Joe Sweet (born September 7, 1952) is an American former professional baseball catcher and current manager of the Milwaukee Brewers' Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds. Manuel Lora Lee (born June 17, 1965) is a former shortstop and second baseman for Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays (1985–92), Texas Rangers (1993–94) and St. Louis Cardinals (1995). Charles Walter Terrell (born May 11, 1958) is a retired Major League Baseball player. Lee Louis Mazzilli (born March 25, 1955) is an American professional baseball player, coach, and manager. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as an outfielder for the New York Mets, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Toronto Blue Jays from 1976 through 1989.
