1982 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament
The 1982 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament was the second year of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship for Division I. In 1982, the tournament participants were expanded from 20 to 28. The University of Hawaii won the NCAA championship by defeating defending national champion Southern California in five games. Hawaii finished the year at 33-1. In the consolation match, San Diego State defeated Stanford in five games to claim third place for the second straight year. Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball
The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is the NCAA Division I women's volleyball team for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. They are a member of the Big West Conference and are led by head coach, Robyn Ah Mow-Santos. The Rainbow Wahine volleyball program remains a large source of financial income for the University of Hawaii athletic department, notwithstanding even what FB and MBB generates. Grandfathered in, and straddling the line between the two governing bodies of the AIAW and NCAA, Joyce Kapuaala-Kaapuni started with Hawaii in 1974 (alongside USAV's 1970 World's participant Beth McLachlin). Texas Longhorns Volleyball
The Texas Longhorns women's volleyball team represents The University of Texas at Austin in NCAA Division I intercollegiate women's volleyball competition. The Longhorns currently compete in the Big 12 Conference. Texas has won four volleyball national championships – one AIAW championship in 1981 and three NCAA championships in 1988, 2012, and 2022. Beginning with the 1981 season, they have qualified for the AIAW/NCAA tournament every year except for two (40 of 42 seasons) and the most recent 19 years (2004-2022). The volleyball program was founded in 1974. Penn State Nittany Lions Women's Volleyball
The Penn State Nittany Lions women's volleyball program has had a long tradition, founded in 1976 by Tom Tait, long-time coach of the Penn State men's team, who coached the women's team from 1976 to 1979 and was named a USA Volleyball All-Time great coach in 2007. Russ Rose was the head coach from 1979 to 2021. He led the program to seven NCAA national championships, first in 1999, then in each year from 2007 through 2010, and in both 2013 and 2014. Nebraska Cornhuskers Volleyball
The Nebraska Cornhuskers women's volleyball team competes as part of NCAA Division I, representing the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the Big Ten.
