The American League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. MLB consists of an East, Central, and West division for each of its two 15-team leagues, the American League (AL) and National League (NL). Miguel Ángel Diloné Reyes (born November 1, 1954) is a former Major League Baseball switch hitting outfielder. He played 12 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Montreal Expos and San Diego Padres. Diloné represented the Dominican Republic at the 1971 Pan American Games. Diloné began his career as a September call-up in 1974 at the age of 19. Used primarily as a pinch runner with the Pirates, he had 21 stolen bases in four seasons with the Pirates. Le Roy Purdy Smith is a former professional baseball pitcher and executive. He played all or part of eight seasons in Major League Baseball from until . He has served as a scout for the New York Mets. Playing career Smith was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. After three seasons in the Phillies' farm system, Smith and two other players, were traded to the Cleveland Indians late in the season for pitcher John Denny. Wil Culmer
Wilfred Hillard Culmer (November 11, 1957 – October 14, 2003) was a Major League Baseball player for the Cleveland Indians. He was inducted to the Bahamas Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Career Culmer originally played baseball in the Bahamas after graduating high school, and was considered to be one of the country's best home run hitters. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1977 as an amateur free agent and began his professional career the following year with the rookie-league Helena Phillies; he had a batting average of .358 in 55 games. The following year, he split the season between the Spartanburg Phillies and the Peninsula Pilots. In 1980, Culmer spent the season with Peninsula and had a career year. Jerry Maxwell Reed (born October 8, 1955), is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched for nine seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), during 1981–1990. Career Pre-MLB career Reed was originally drafted out of Enka High School in Candler, NC by the Minnesota Twins. He was chosen in the 11th round of the 1973 MLB draft, but did not sign, instead opting to attend Western Carolina University, where he threw the first no-hitter in the school's history. After four years at WCU, Reed was again drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 22nd round of the 1977 MLB draft. John Allen Denny (born November 8, 1952) is an American former professional baseball right-handed pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cincinnati Reds, from to . Denny won the National League (NL) Cy Young Award, in . Career Denny was born in Prescott, Arizona, and attended Prescott High School. He excelled at sports there, playing football and basketball as well as baseball. In the 1970 amateur draft, he was selected by the Cardinals in the 29th round. Arnold Ray McBride (born February 3, 1949), nicknamed "Shake 'n Bake" and "The Callaway Kid", is an American former professional baseball outfielder, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cleveland Indians between 1973 and 1983. Isidro Monge Pedroza (born April 11, 1951) is a Mexican retired Major League Baseball relief pitcher who pitched from 1975 to 1984. He played for the California Angels, Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers, all of the American League and the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, both of the National League.
