1982 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1982 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament was held in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the Greensboro Coliseum from March 5β7. North Carolina defeated Virginia, 47β45, to win the championship. James Worthy of North Carolina was named the tournament MVP. Beginning with this tournament, the quarterfinals were played on Friday and the championship was held on Sunday. The finals continued to be held on Sunday until the 2015 tournament, which began with first-round games on Tuesday and ended with the final on Saturday night. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, commonly referred to as Greensboro Coliseum (the first and biggest building on the site), is an entertainment and sports complex located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Greensboro (; formerly Greensborough) is a city in and the county seat of Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. The 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Atlantic Coast Conference, held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, from March 10β14, 2015. The tournament included fourteen of the fifteen ACC teams, as Syracuse did not compete due to a self-imposed postseason ban. Seeds 5 through 10 received a first-round bye, and the top four seeds received a "double bye" through the first round and second rounds. The 2015 tournament was the first to begin on a Tuesday and the first since 1981 to finish on a Saturday. The semifinals and championship game were played in the evening instead of their traditional afternoon timeslot.
