Basketball is the second most popular sport in Spain, directly behind association football. The top Spanish League, Liga ACB, is a member of ULEB, and the top Spanish League teams can compete in Europe, most notably in the Euroleague and Eurocup, and also under the FIBA Europe umbrella, in the FIBA Europe Cup. The Spanish teams also compete in a national domestic cup competition each year, called the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto, which is played by the top eight teams in the standings of the Liga ACB, at the end of the first half of the regular season. Club Baloncesto Inmobanco, also known as Club Baloncesto Tempus, was a professional basketball club based in Madrid. History CB Inmobanco was founded as the reserve team of Real Madrid with the name of Castilla-Vallehermoso. The club separated from Real on 1978, after promoting to the first division. It played two Copa del Rey finals and the Korać Cup in the 1980–81 season. During its history, it played in several arenas of Pozuelo de Alarcón and Madrid. Obradoiro Clube de Amigos do Baloncesto (lit, Obradoiro Friends of Basketball Club), also known as Monbus Obradoiro for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia. They currently compete in the ACB League. History Obradoiro CAB was founded in 1970 and started playing in the third division after acquiring the spot of the basketball section of SD Compostela. It was founded in 1979 and the basketball team played in Liga ACB from 1983 to 1986 and participated in the Korac Cup during the 1984-85 season. Unió Esportiva Recreativa Pineda de Mar (in Spanish, ''Unión Deportiva Recreativa Pineda de Mar'') is a basketball club based in Pineda de Mar, Catalonia, Spain. History The club was created in 1952 as a merge of three entities in the municipality (''Club Ciclista'', ''Club de Bàsquet'' and ''Club d'Escacs''), but it was not officially founded until 1954. UER Pineda de Mar played in Primera División from 1971 to 1979, when it was relegated to the Primera B.
