Burnley F
Burnley () is a town and the administrative centre of the wider Borough of Burnley in Lancashire, England, with a 2001 population of 73,021. It is north of Manchester and east of Preston, at the confluence of the River Calder and River Brun. The town is located near the countryside to the south and east, with the towns of Padiham and Brierfield to the west and north respectively. It has a reputation as a regional centre of excellence for the manufacturing and aerospace industries. The town began to develop in the early medieval period as a number of farming hamlets surrounded by manor houses and royal forests, and has held a market for more than 700 years. Martin Dobson
Martin Dobson (born 14 February 1948; Rishton) popularly known as Dobbo is a former professional footballer and England international who played as a midfielder. He was the first player to be transferred for £300,000 when Everton bought him from Burnley in August 1974. He was born in Rishton and attended Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. He was signed as youngster by Bolton Wanderers who spotted him playing for Lancashire Grammar Schools. However he was given a free transfer and moved on to Burnley. He had a long and successful playing career, playing for almost 20 years and totalling over 600 league appearances while playing for Burnley, Everton and Bury. He won 5 England caps overall, 4 while at Burnley and 1 at Everton. Trevor Steven
Trevor McGregor Steven (born 21 September 1963) is an English former professional footballer who played as a right-sided midfielder. He progressed through the ranks at Burnley, making his debut in 1981 and becoming a regular supplier of goals over the next two seasons. Everton boss Howard Kendall, who was building a new team based on youth, decided to make a bid for him. He became known as a member of the successful Everton side of the 1980s and went on to be part of the Rangers ' 9-in-a-row' team. Steven won further honours in France during a spell with Marseille and gained 36 international caps for England. He is now known for his media work, particularly with RTÉ Sport in Ireland. Mike Phelan
Michael Christopher Phelan (born 24 September 1962) is an English professional football coach and former player who is currently a coach at Manchester United. Born in Nelson, Lancashire, he spent most of his playing career at Burnley, Norwich City and Manchester United, with a short spell at West Bromwich Albion before retirement. While he was with Manchester United he also earned a single cap for England. In 2006, Norwich fans voted Phelan into the club's Hall of Fame. Following the end of his playing career, Phelan moved into management. Vince Overson
Vincent David Overson (born 15 May 1962) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He made nearly 600 appearances in the Football League for Burnley, Birmingham City, Stoke City and Shrewsbury Town over a 20-year career. Career Overson was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire, and followed his brother Richard to Burnley after playing non-league football with Corby Town and Long Buckby. He turned professional in November 1979 and spent seven seasons at Turf Moor making 254 appearances scoring seven goals. During that time Burnley suffered relegation three times whilst they won the Third Division title in 1981–82. He joined Birmingham City in June 1986 and captained Birmingham to success in the 1991 Football League Trophy where they defeated Tranmere Rovers. Billy O'Rourke
William James O'Rourke (2 April 1960 – 28 January 2002) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played in The Football League for four clubs. Playing career O'Rourke began his career as an apprentice with Burnley, with whom he turned professional in February 1978. His debut came away at QPR in October 1979, in a match shown on Match of the Day. Burnley lost 7–0, with O'Rourke leaving the pitch in tears. However, his performance led to the Burnley Express naming him as his side's man of the match. He went on to make 13 more league appearances for ''the Clarets'' before joining Blackpool on loan in August 1983, followed by a move to Chester City in March 1984. Paul Gerard McGee (born 19 June 1954) is an Irish former footballer who played as a forward. McGee was born in Sligo, and started his career with Sligo Rovers, making his debut at 15 years of age on 15 November 1970. While at Finn Harps he won the FAI Cup in 1974. He then rejoined his home town club Sligo Rovers winning the League of Ireland championship in 1977. After the league success he was purchased by Queens Park Rangers in November 1977. In his Ireland career, he scored 4 goals in 15 matches and also won 10 youth caps and 2 U21 caps.
