Vice President Of North Korea
The Vice President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea () was a political position in North Korea established in 1972, and abolished after the death of Kim Il-sung during the reign of Kim Jong-il. In 1972 the Presidency was established, and Kim Il-sung was elected to the position by the Supreme People's Assembly, the North Korean legislature, on 28 December 1972. The Vice Presidents were also elected by the Assembly. The Vice Presidency has been left vacant since October 1997, when the Presidency was eternally reserved for Kim Il-sung. Kim Il (politician)
Kim Il (; 20 March 1910 – 9 March 1984) was a North Korean politician who was served as Premier of North Korea from 28 December 1972 to 19 April 1976. Early life and career Kim was born on 20 March 1910, in Hamgyong Province to a poor family of peasants. Kim joined the underground Communist Party in 1932 and fought against Japanese colonial rule from 1935. After the liberation of Korea in 1945, he served as secretary of the Party Committee of Pyongan Province. He was appointed to different important military posts since 1946. Kim Il was elected to the 1st Central Committee on 24 November 1946 and remained a member until his death. After the Democratic People's Republic of Korea proclaimed independence in 1948, he was elected to the 2nd Standing Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and in 1953 he was elected to the 2nd WPK Political Committee (later renamed "Presidium"). Pak Song-chol or Park Sung-chul (2 September 1913 – 28 October 2008) was a North Korean politician who served as Premier of North Korea from 1976 to 1977. He succeeded Kim Il. He also served as foreign minister from 1959 to 1970. Biography Born in Keishū, Keishō-hoku Prefecture (today North Gyeongsang Province) during the Japanese colonial period. Dropped out of Sophia University in Japan. While studying abroad, he joined the Japanese Communist Party. Participated in Anti-Japan Partisan in Manchukuo in April 1934. In 1936, youth member of the 1st corps of the 5th Army of the Tohoku Anti-Japanese Union. During the period, he was described as an extremely loyal and courageous youth member. Kang Ryang-uk
Kang Ryang-uk (, 7 December 1903 – 9 January 1983), also spelled Kang Lyanguk, was a North Korean Presbyterian minister and Chairman of the Korean Christian Federation since 1946. Kang was the maternal uncle of North Korean leader Kim Il-sung. Kim's mother, Kang's cousin, was Kang Pan-sok, who was also a devout Presbyterian. In his early years, Kang he was a school teacher (one of his pupils was Kim Il-sung). In the 1940s he studied Theology at the Pyongyang University, and after he completed his study he became a minister. Kang became one of the close advisers of Kim Il-sung shortly after his return from the Soviet Union in October 1945. In 1946 he became the Chairman of the Christian League, later called the Korean Christian Federation. This organisation was in close contact with the Communist Party. President Of North Korea
The president of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea () was the head of state of North Korea from 1972 to 1998. The position was only occupied by Kim Il-sung from 1972 until his death in 1994. Aside from being president, Kim was also the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the National Defence Commission (until 1993) and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army (until 1991). Following Kim's death in 1994, the position remained vacant until 1998. A constitutional amendment in 1998 named Kim Il-sung as the eternal president and abolished the position.
