1981 New Zealand Rugby Union Tour Of Romania And France
The 1981 New Zealand rugby union tour of Romania and France was a series of ten matches played by the New Zealand national rugby union team (the All Blacks) in Romania and France in October and November 1981. The All Blacks won eight of the ten games, including the international match against Romania and both internationals against France. The only team to defeat the All Blacks was a French regional selection, and the All Blacks were also held to a draw by another regional team. New Zealand National Rugby Union Team
The New Zealand national rugby union team, commonly known as the All Blacks ( mi, Ōpango), represents New Zealand in men's international rugby union, which is considered the country's national sport. The team won the Rugby World Cup in 1987, 2011 and 2015. They were the first country to win the Rugby World Cup 3 times. New Zealand has a 76 per-cent winning record in test-match rugby, and has secured more wins than losses against every test opponent. Since their international debut in 1903, New Zealand teams have played test matches against 19 nations, of which 12 have never won a game against the All Blacks. Graham Mourie
Graham Neil Kenneth Mourie (born 8 September 1952) is a former New Zealand All Black flanker and coach of the Hurricanes. He was one of the great All Black captains in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was first selected for the All Blacks in 1976, captaining a second-string New Zealand team that toured South America. He was selected again for the All Blacks against the touring British Lions in 1977, and captained the side to France later that year, replacing Tane Norton as captain. He attended Opunake High School and was in the 1st XV before he attended New Plymouth Boys' High School which he also got into the 1st XV but never captained it. John Boe
John Boe (born 23 November 1955) is a New Zealand former rugby union footballer and a current coach. He played as a centre, before moving to fly-half. He played for Waikato Colts, but never had a competitive game for the All Blacks, despite being selected for his tour of France, in 1981. Boe started his coach career with Waikato Colts, being their head coach from 1995 to 1998. He reached the NPC final in the final season. Being a member of NZRFU staff, he was loaned to Manu Samoa, in 2000, winning then the Pacific Rim Tournament. He also achieved the qualification for the 2003 Rugby World Cup finals, where his team won two matches, with Uruguay and Georgia, and had two honourable losses to England and South Africa, finishing in 3rd place of his group. Andrew John Donald (born 11 May 1957) is a former New Zealand rugby union player. Dave Loveridge
David Steven Loveridge (born 22 April 1952) is an All Black of the late 1970s and early 1980s, known in his time as the greatest halfback in the world. Life and career Loveridge was born in 1952, in Stratford, New Zealand, to Horace and Margaret Loveridge. He grew up during the golden age of Taranaki rugby, with the provincial side holding the Ranfurly Shield for two tenures in 1957–1959, and 1963–1965. He played age-grade representative rugby for Taranaki at the age of 12. The Loveridge family owned a pig farm in Tariki south of Inglewood, and Loveridge attended Inglewood High School for his secondary education. He worked for a bank after leaving school, and in 1972 the bank transferred him to Auckland. Brian McKechnie
Brian John McKechnie (born 6 November 1953) is a former " double All Black" - representing New Zealand in both rugby union and cricket. Rugby career He played 26 matches for the All Blacks as a first five-eighth and fullback, most memorably being the player to kick the winning penalty goal against Wales in 1978 when Andy Haden dived out off a lineout near full-time and was apparently awarded a penalty (the referee later said the penalty was for a completely separate incident and was clearly visible in video footage) which would secure the "Grand Slam" for the All Blacks against the home country unions. Douglas Leslie Rollerson (14 May 1953 – 3 May 2017) was a New Zealand rugby union and rugby league player, and rugby union executive. Rugby union Primarily a fullback and first five-eighth, Rollerson represented Manawatu at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1976, 1980 and 1981. He played 24 matches for the All Blacks including eight full internationals. Rollerson played for Manawatu in their 16–22 loss to the Irish team of 1976. Arthur Stone (rugby Union)
Arthur Massey Stone (born 19 December 1960) is a former New Zealand rugby union player. A second five-eighth and centre, Stone represented Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Otago at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1981 to 1985. He played 23 matches for the All Blacks including nine internationals, scoring five tries and one dropped goal. He also played 27 games for the New Zealand Maori team. Jamie Salmon
James Lionel Broome Salmon (born 16 October 1959) is an English rugby union centre who uniquely appeared in international matches for both New Zealand and England. Career He became a Wellington player in 1980 and first appeared for New Zealand at under-23 level before being selected for a match against Fiji which did not carry full capped status. He was selected for New Zealand's tour to Europe in the autumn of 1981 and won all his three All Black caps on that tour.
