1981 FIFA World Youth Championship
The 1981 FIFA World Youth Championship, the third edition of the FIFA World Youth Championship, was held in Australia from 3 to 18 October 1981. The tournament took place in six venues—where a total of 32 matches were played. Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney—The winner was West Germany, who beat surprise package Qatar 4–0 in a final held at Sydney Cricket Ground. Jan Urban
Jan Urban (; born 14 May 1962) is a Polish football manager and former player who played as a striker, who was most recently in charge of Ekstraklasa club Górnik Zabrze. His professional career was closely associated to Górnik Zabrze and Osasuna, and he also coached and worked with the latter club in various capacities. Urban represented Poland at the 1986 World Cup. Playing career Club Urban was born in Jaworzno, being one of six children in an underprivileged mining family. In his country he played for Zagłębie Sosnowiec and Górnik Zabrze, winning three Ekstraklasa championships in a row with the latter to which he contributed with a combined 38 goals, including a career-best 17 in 1987–88. In the summer of 1989, Urban moved to Spain and joined CA Osasuna, going on to be one of the Navarre team's most important players of the following decade. Mirosław Pękala
Mirosław Mieczysław Pękala (born 15 October 1961) was a former Polish international footballer who played as a midfielder. His playing career lasted 11 years during which time he played for Śląsk Wrocław and Lechia Gdańsk. Career Born in Kłodzko, Pękala started playing football for his local team Nysa Kłodzko. He eventually joined Piast Nowa Ruda, being transferred to Śląsk Wrocław at the age of 15. He made his league debut for Śląsk in August 1977 against Ruch Chorzów at the age of 15, being the youngest ever player to have played for the team. After shining in his early years, his high amount of playing time and early exposure to alcohol abuse took its toll on Pękala's development. During his time with Śląsk he was involved in a night of drinking when he and three other players partied in a T-34 tank outside of a Soviet cemetery. Bałtyk Gdynia is a Polish football club from Gdynia. The club is named after the Baltic Sea. History The club was established in 1930 by football enthusiasts from the developing city. Bałtyk is the oldest football club from Gdynia, which still plays with its original name. Bałtyk played 7 seasons in the Polish first league and 19 in Polish second league. They also appeared once in the Intertoto Cup, in 1983. In 1977, Baltyk's U-19 team won bronze in the Polish Championship, and in 1982, Baltyk won silver in the U-19 championship of Poland. In 2019 and 2020 the club fell victim to a career fraudster causing the club to sign player contracts promising money that did not exist. Dariusz Dziekanowski
Dariusz Paweł Dziekanowski (born 30 September 1962) is a Polish football player, coach and commentator. He was known as Jacki Dziekanowski during his time playing in the Scottish and English leagues. He started his career at Polonia Warsaw, between 1973–79, throughout the youth set-up and into a very young first team, but went to Gwardia Warszawa from 1979–83. Having not impressed the coach during his final season he moved to Widzew Łódź in 1985. However, the following year he was selected in the Poland 1986 FIFA World Cup squad. He won the Polish Cup in 1989. He also had a minor career in archery, in 1988. He decided to move to Celtic in 1989 and became a fan favourite after scoring an amazing four goals in a nail-biting European Cup Winners' Cup tie against Partizan Belgrade.
