American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. George Achica
George R. Achica (born December 19, 1960) is a former American college and professional football defensive tackle. Achica played college football for the University of Southern California, and was recognized as an All-American. He played professionally for the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League (USFL), and the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). Early years Achica was born in American Samoa. He prepped at Andrew Hill High School in San Jose, California. College career Achica attended the University of Southern California, where he played for the USC Trojans football team from 1979 to 1982. He was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American, the Lombardi Award runner-up, and Morris Trophy winner as a senior in 1982. Anthony Allen (wide Receiver)
Anthony Derrick Allen (born June 29, 1959) is a former professional American football player who played wide receiver for five seasons for the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, and San Diego Chargers. He played college football at the University of Washington and was drafted in the sixth round of the 1983 NFL Draft. Professional playing career Allen made his professional debut in the United States Football League (USFL) in 1983. Allen was originally drafted by the USFL's Tampa Bay Bandits in the third round of the 1983 USFL Draft. After being selected in the sixth round of the 1983 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Express acquired his USFL rights from the Bandits for a fourth-round pick the 1984 USFL Draft. Peter Michael Black (born January 18, 1961) is a former American football punter who played five seasons with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. Chuck Nelson
Charles LaVerne Nelson (born February 23, 1960) is a former professional football player, a placekicker in the National Football League. Nelson played college football for the University of Washington, and earned All-American honors. He played professionally in the NFL for five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Minnesota Vikings. Following his playing career, Nelson worked in investment management and broadcasting in the Seattle area. He did local cable telecasts and was the color commentator on radio for Husky football games for 17 years, through the 2009 season. Mike Richardson (American Football, Born 1961)
Michael Calvin Richardson (born May 23, 1961) is a former American college and professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons during the 1980s. College career He played college football for Arizona State University, and was recognized as an All-American in 1981 and 1982. Richardson was only the 6th All-American in ASU history at the time, and the second player ever to achieve it twice. In his final two seasons, the Sun Devils went 19-4, and he closed out his college career with a win over University of Oklahoma in the 1982 Fiesta Bowl. In his four years at Arizona State, he intercepted 18 passes, returning them for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Ricky Cardell Hunley (born November 11, 1961) is an American football coach and former professional player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons during the 1980s and early 1990s. Hunley played college football for the University of Arizona, and was twice recognized as a consensus All-American. He was selected in the first round of the 1984 NFL Draft, and played professionally for the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Raiders of the NFL.
