American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 (when the NL West expanded to five teams) to 2012, the AL West was the only MLB division with four teams. The current champion of this division is the Houston Astros. Albert Dwayne Newman (born June 30, 1960) is a former infielder in Major League Baseball who played for the Montreal Expos (1985–1986), Minnesota Twins (1987–1991) and Texas Rangers (1992). Newman was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. Billy Taylor (1990s Pitcher)
William Howell Taylor (born October 16, 1961) is an American former professional baseball player who pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) primarily as a closer from 1994 and 1996–2001. Early career Billy Taylor played his first professional game in 1980 after being drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round (39th overall pick) of the 1980 draft. Initially drafted as a starter, in 1981, he went 4–2 with a 2.72 ERA in Rookie-Level. However, he struggled after a promotion to Single-A, going just 1–7 with a 4.64 ERA. Over the next two seasons, used as a combination reliever/starter, he went 13–18 with a 5.54 ERA. He did strike out 212 batters. In 1984, used in 42 games, he re-established his prospect status with a 5–3 record and a 3.83 ERA in AA. James Francis Norris (born December 20, 1948) is a former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball from 1977 to 1980 for the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers (baseball), Texas Rangers, playing all three outfield positions. David Clyde
David Eugene Clyde (born April 22, 1955) is a former left-handed Major League Baseball pitcher who played for five seasons with the Texas Rangers (1973–1975) and Cleveland Indians (1978–1979). He is noted for his once promising baseball career, which ended at age 26 because of arm and shoulder injuries. Billed as the next Sandy Koufax, Clyde had a stellar high school career at Westchester High School. He was drafted with the first overall pick in the 1973 Major League Baseball draft. Gary George Gray (born September 21, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a former Major League Baseball first baseman who played parts of six seasons from until . During that time, he played for the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, and Seattle Mariners. Career Gray played college baseball at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and was selected by the Rangers in the 18th round of the 1974 Major League Baseball Draft. He spent 1974 with the Rangers' rookie squad, then played for the Anderson Rangers in 1975. With Anderson, Gray had a .302 batting average, 18 home runs, and 95 runs batted in in 135 games. In 1976, he played for the San Antonio Brewers, and had a .305 batting average, 19 home runs, and 109 runs batted in over 124 games.
