1980 NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The 1980 NCAA Men's National Collegiate Volleyball Championship, NCAA men's volleyball tournament was the 11th annual tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA men's college volleyball. The tournament was played at Irving Gymnasium in Muncie, Indiana during May 1980. USC Trojans men's volleyball, USC defeated UCLA Bruins men's volleyball, UCLA in the final match, 3–1 (15–7, 6–15, 15–13, 15–8), to win their second national title. This was a rematch of the previous year's final, which was won by UCLA. The Trojans (22–6) were coached by Ernie Hix. USC's Dusty Dvorak was named ''Most Outstanding Player'' of the tournament. An ''All-tournament team'' of seven players was also named. USC Trojans Men's Volleyball
USC Trojans men's volleyball is a collegiate volleyball team that represents the University of Southern California (USC). The team participates as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), an athletic conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1970 and first awarded schlorships during the 1976–77 season. The program has won the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship four times, and placed second seven times. Home games are played at Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles, California. Ohio State Buckeyes Men's Volleyball
The Ohio State Buckeyes men's volleyball is one of the 18 men's varsity teams at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The team is coached by Kevin Burch, who is in his first season as head coach. The Buckeyes are a charter member of the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA), which they have been competing in since their founding in 1968. The team has won 27 regular season MIVA titles, 17 tournament titles and three NCAA men's volleyball tournament titles. They currently host their home matches at the Covelli Center on campus. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The NCAA men's volleyball tournament, officially titled the NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship, is an annual competition that determines the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship in American college men's volleyball. It had been the only NCAA championship in the sport from 1970 until 2012, when the NCAA launched a Division III championship. Unlike most NCAA sports, men's volleyball uses a modified version of the National Collegiate championship format, which means Division I and Division II teams compete against each other in the same tournament. Karch Kiraly
Charles Frederick "Karch" Kiraly () (born November 3, 1960) is an American volleyball player, coach and broadcast announcer. In the 1980s he was a central part of the U.S National Team that won gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. He went on to win the gold medal again at the 1996 Olympic Games, the first Olympic competition to feature beach volleyball. He is the only player (man or woman) to have won Olympic medals of any color in both the indoor and beach volleyball categories. He played college volleyball for the UCLA Bruins, where his teams won three national championships under head coach Al Scates. Steve Timmons
Steve Dennis Timmons (born November 29, 1958) is an American former volleyball player who represented the United States at three consecutive Summer Olympics starting in 1984, winning gold in 1984 and 1988 plus a bronze in 1992. Steve played volleyball and basketball at Newport Harbor High School. He then attended Orange Coast College (OCC), playing for the OCC Pirates basketball team that won the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state basketball championship and the Pirates volleyball team that was runner-up in the CCCAA state volleyball championship.
