Mark Edmondson
Mark Edmondson (born 28 June 1954 in Gosford, New South Wales) is a retired Australian professional tennis player. Edmondson won the 1976 Australian Open while ranked 212th in the world, and remains the lowest-ranked winner of a Grand Slam tournament since the ATP rankings were introduced in 1973. He is the last Australian to date to win the men's singles at the Australian Open. Craig Edwards (tennis)
Craig Edwards (born May 19, 1955) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Biography Edwards, a relative late comer to tennis, changed his approach to the sport after attending a basketball camp run by John Wooden, which he attended to learn things that he could put towards his tennis. He was the No. 1 player at Ventura High School for two and a half years, then in 1974 began as a freshman at the University of Redlands. An All-American at Redlands in 1973-74 and 1974-75, he later went to Pepperdine University. During the 1980s, Edwards competed professionally on the Grand Prix tennis circuit, primarily in doubles events. His regular partner was Eddie Edwards, a South African player of no relation, who played with him at Pepperdine. They won a Grand Prix title at Bournemouth in 1980 and were runners-up in a further two Grand Prix tournaments, at Adelaide and Stuttgart the following year. Mike Estep
Mike Estep (born July 19, 1949) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. During his career Estep won 2 singles titles and 7 doubles titles. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 59 in August 1973. In 1983 until 1986 he coached Martina Navratilova. Later he worked with Carling Bassett, Hana Mandlíková, Jana Novotná and Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. He was a board member of the Association of Tennis Professionals from 1982 to 1989, holding the position of chairman of the ATP ranking Committee at the same time. He also worked with the U.S. Tennis Association, creating a method for ranking juniors in 1999 that is now used nationwide, and serving on the junior development council for Texas from 1993 to 1995. Thomas Spessard Cain (born October 11, 1958) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Biography Born in Richmond, Virginia on October 11, 1958, he is the son of Ronald and Susan Cain. Cain was a member of the US Junior Davis Cup team in 1976. He played varsity tennis while at Southern Methodist University and was an All-American in the 1980 season. From 1980 he competed professionally and in his first year on tour was a semi-finalist at the Columbus Open, a tournament on the Grand Prix circuit. Ulrich Marten (born 7 January 1956) is a former professional tennis player from West Germany. Career Marten was a doubles quarterfinalist at the 1976 Australian Open, with partner Rolf Gehring. In 1977 he had wins over both Robin Drysdale and American Mark Meyers to make the round of 16 at the South Australian Men's Tennis Classic. He came from two sets down to defeat Cliff Letcher at the 1979 Australian Open, 8–6 in the fifth. Career Hampson competed in the main singles draw of the Australian Open three times and Wimbledon twice, without managing to register a win. The closest he got was at the 1982 Australian Open, where he received a first round bye, before a five set loss in the second round to Eric Sherbeck, the last decided in a tiebreak.
