1980 Adelaide State Of Origin Carnival
The 1980 Adelaide State of Origin Carnival was the 21st Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football competition. It was just the second carnival to take place under the State of Origin format. Four states took part, the hosts South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and the reigning carnival champions Western Australia. Football Park hosted all the fixtures, which took place in October after the football season had ended. Robbert Klomp
Robbert Klomp (born 14 May 1955) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), and with Carlton and Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Klomp was born in the Netherlands and raised in South Australia. He began playing for Sturt in 1973 and was a key contributor to their premierships in 1974 and 1976. He was one of the best players on the ground in the 1976 SANFL Grand Final, kicking 2 goals from centre half forward and creating several more for his teammates with clever handpasses. Noel Carter
Noel Carter (born 9 February 1955) is a former Australian rules football player who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1973 and 1977 for the Richmond Football Club. He also played 155 games in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) for the South Fremantle Football Club between 1978 and 1985. At age 17 he was recruited by Richmond from Ulverstone Football Club in the North West Football Union, where he had won their best and fairest award in 1972. He played five senior games for Richmond in his debut season, including the preliminary and grand final, being a member of the 1973 VFL Grand Final winning team. After 50 games over 5 seasons for Richmond, Carter moved to South Fremantle in 1978, being named captain from 1979 to 1982. Stephen Carey
Stephen Carey (born 14 October 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Essendon recruited Carey from North Launceston and by 1981 he had found a regular place in the Bomber's defence. He played in their 1983 Grand Final loss to Hawthorn but was part of their side two years later when they turned the table on Hawthorn and won the 1985 premiership. Darryl Lewis Sutton (27 July 1952 – 28 January 2017) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club, Richmond Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). Peter Daniel (Australian Footballer)
Peter Russell Daniel (born 17 September 1947) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Daniel spent most of 1968 in the Essendon reserves, where he played in a premiership team. The Woori Yallock recruit featured more prominently in 1969 and kicked 32 goals, including a couple of six goal hauls. In the subsequent seasons he was used mainly as a full-back. At Moorabbin Oval, against St Kilda, late in the 1974 VFL season, Daniel made his 100th and last league appearance. It was also the debut of future Essendon 378 gamer Simon Madden. Andrew Bennett (born 30 March 1955) is a former Australian rules footballer who played 110 games for South Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL from 1974 to 1979 and 35 games for Hawthorn and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1980 to 1985. Bennett played six games for South Australia in 1979 and 1980 including two State-of-Origin carnivals in Adelaide in 1979 and Perth in 1980. Paul L. Weston (born 9 April 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with in the Victorian Football League (VFL) as well as , and in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) during the 1970s and 1980s. Phil Maylin (born 20 April 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton and Footscray in the Australian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Russell Frank Ebert (22 June 1949 – 5 November 2021) was an Australian rules footballer and coach. He is considered one of the greatest players in the history of Australian rules football in South Australia. Michael Taylor (Australian Footballer)
Michael S. Taylor (born 30 December 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).
