1979 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1979 SEC men's basketball tournament took place in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. This tournament marks the first SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament held since the event’s hiatus that started after the 1952 tournament. The Tennessee Volunteers won the tournament championship game, and received the SEC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by beating the Kentucky Wildcats in a 75–69 overtime win on March 3, 1979. Legacy Arena
Legacy Arena (formerly known as the BJCC Coliseum and the BJCC Arena) is an arena located at the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama. The arena seats 17,654 for sporting events, 19,000 for concerts and 8,000 in a theater setting. When the arena is converted to theater seating, the arena serves under the name Magic City Theatre. Arena information The arena stands ten stories tall, but it actually measures only 75 feet (23 m) from floor to ceiling and contains an oval-shaped 24,200-square-foot (2,244.5 m²) (110' by 220' (33.5 x 67 m)) arena floor. Ole Miss Rebels Men's Basketball
The Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team represents the University of Mississippi in the sport of basketball. The Rebels compete in the NCAA Division I and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They started the 2015–16 season playing home games at Tad Smith Coliseum on the university's Oxford campus, but played their final game in that facility on December 22, 2015. The Rebels opened a new on-campus arena, The Pavilion at Ole Miss, on January 7, 2016. The Rebels were led by 12-year head coach Andy Kennedy until his resignation on February 18, 2018. Reginald MacDonnell King (1869–1955) was a solicitor politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. The Tennessee Volunteers Men's Basketball Team is the collegiate men's basketball program for the University of Tennessee–Knoxville. 1978–79 Auburn Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 1978–79 Auburn Tigers men's basketball team represented Auburn University in the 1978–79 college basketball season. Auburn began the year with newly-hired Paul Lambert as head coach, but Lambert died in a hotel fire in Columbus, Georgia on June 6, 1978 before ever coaching a game. Sonny Smith from East Tennessee State was hired as coach. The team played their home games at Memorial Coliseum in Auburn, Alabama. They finished the season 13–16, 5–13 in SEC play.
