Margrethe II Of Denmark
Margrethe II (; Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid, born 16 April 1940) is Queen of Denmark. Having reigned as Denmark's monarch for over 50 years, she is Europe's longest-serving current head of state and the world's only incumbent female monarch following the death of Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Born into the House of Glücksburg, a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg, Margrethe is the eldest child of Frederick IX of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden. She became heir presumptive to her father in 1953, when a constitutional amendment allowed women to inherit the throne. Margrethe succeeded her father upon his death on 14 January 1972. On her accession, she became the first female monarch of Denmark since Margrethe I, ruler of the Scandinavian kingdoms in 1375–1412 during the Kalmar Union. Jens Otto Krag
Jens Otto Krag (; 15 September 1914 – 22 June 1978) was a Danish politician who served as prime minister of Denmark from 1962 to 1968 and from 1971 to 1972, and as leader of the Social Democrats from 1962 to 1972. He was president of the Nordic Council in 1971. Early life and career Krag was born in Randers, Jutland, on 15 September 1914, into the impoverished family of a tobacconist. He attended the local gymnasium, and as a teenager joined the Social Democratic Youth of Denmark, the youth wing of the Social Democratic Party. In 1933, Krag began studying economics at the University of Copenhagen. During this period he emerged as an active journalist and teacher in the labour movement, and became acquainted with the leadership of the Social Democrats and the trade unions. He received his degree in 1940, the same year that Denmark was invaded by Nazi Germany. Carl Hansen (footballer)
Carl Vilhelm "Skoma'r" Hansen, simply known as Carl "Skoma'r" (17 May 1898 – 19 May 1978), was a Danish association football player and coach. He played in the forward position, and won the Danish championship with Boldklubben 1903 before moving abroad to play for Scottish club Rangers F.C. as the first professional player in Danish football history. With Rangers, he won four Scottish championships. Hansen played seven games and scored three goals for the Denmark national football team, and was a part of the Denmark team at the 1920 Summer Olympics. As a coach, he managed a number of Danish teams and won the Danish championship with AB. Skoma'r was a nickname he got after his father's profession as a shoemaker (da:''Skomager''), and he was most commonly known in Denmark as Carl Skoma'r. Arne Sørensen (politician)
Arne Sørensen (2 October 1906 – 1 March 1978) was a Danish politician and author. He founded the Danish Unity party and was a resistance fighter during the occupation of Denmark. After World War II, Sørensen was a member of the Danish Parliament and Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs. Career Arne Sørensen was a member of the Social Democratic Party until 1936. He felt that the Cabinet of Stuning-Munch, which led the party, was parliamentary ineffective and was too sympathetic towards the Government of Nazi Germany. In response, Sørensen left the party and created the anti-parliamentary Danish Unity party, of which he was chairman until 1946. During the German occupation of Denmark, Sørensen was an active resistance fighter in the Holger Danske group and in 1943 he became a key member of the Danish Freedom Council. Dennis Rommedahl
Dennis Rommedahl (; born 22 July 1978) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a right winger. The second-most capped national player for Denmark, he appeared in 126 matches and scored 21 goals for his country, and was a member of the Danish squads at the 2002 World Cup, Euro 2004, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012. He was nominated for Danish Footballer of the Year in 2007, but did not win the award until 2010. Club career Rommedahl was born in the Bispebjerg borough of Copenhagen.
