The Senior women's race at the 1978 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held in Glasgow, Scotland, at the Bellahouston Park on March 25, 1978. Carmen Valero Omedes (born October 4, 1955, in Castelserás, Teruel) is a former middle-distance runner from Spain, who represented her native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There she was eliminated in the heats of the 800 and the 1500 metres. Valero was the only woman in the Spanish track and field squad for the Montreal Games. Christa Vahlensieck (née Kofferschläger; born 27 May 1949) is a German former long distance runner and pioneer in the marathon for women. During her running career, from 1973-1989, she simultaneously achieved a world record in the 10,000 metres, in the 25k road race and the marathon; she holds 17 German champion titles. Biography On 28 October 1973, Vahlensieck became the first German woman to complete the marathon in under three hours (2:59:26), as a youth in a German Forestrun. She set another German record (2:53:00) at the Boston Marathon on 15 April 1974. Both times were also European bests. In the same year, she won the Essen Marathon in 2:42:38. Tatyana Vasilyevna Kazankina (russian: Татья́на Васи́льевна Каза́нкина; born 17 December 1951 in Petrovsk, Saratov Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union) is a Soviet/Russian former runner who set seven world records and won a total of three gold medals at the Olympic Games. Brenda Webb (runner)
Brenda Webb is an indigenous Australian singer and actress. Her debut single "Little Black Girl" was nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Independent Release. "Little Black Girl" was released in 1993 and received radio airplay all over the country. Another song "Melting Pot" (a cover a Blue Mink song) was used by NSW Aboriginal Land Council for an anti-racism campaign. "Little Black Girl" was originally credited as being written by Webb and Wendy May Dempster but was actually written primarily by Dempster and Christopher Lloyd Bowen who took legal action soon after the song's release.
