1975–76 United States Network Television Schedule
The following is the 1975–76 network television schedule for the three major English language commercial broadcast networks in the United States. The schedule covers primetime hours from September 1975 through August 1976. The schedule is followed by a list per network of returning series, new series, and series cancelled after the 1974–75 season. All times are Eastern and Pacific, with certain exceptions, such as ''Monday Night Football''. This was the first season since 1971 in which a four-hour Sunday night schedule was implemented. This was also the first season for the 22-hour weekly prime-time schedule (four hours on Sunday, three hours each on Monday through Saturday). It remains in effect to this day. In the United States, for most of the history of broadcasting, there were only three or four major commercial national terrestrial networks. From 1946 to 1956, these were ABC, CBS, NBC and DuMont (though the Paramount Television Network had some limited success during these years). ''Cannon'' is an American detective television series produced by Quinn Martin that aired from 1971 to 1976 on CBS. William Conrad played the title character, private detective Frank Cannon. The series was the first Quinn Martin production to run on a network other than ABC. In total, there were 122 episodes, plus the series' two-hour pilot and a 1980 "revival" television film, ''The Return of Frank Cannon''. Synopsis Cannon was portrayed in the series as a veteran of the Korean War and a former member of the Los Angeles Police Department. ''Good Heavens'' is an ABC comedy anthology series produced by Columbia Pictures Television that aired between February 29 and June 26, 1976. It ranked #17 in the Nielsen ratings during the 1975-76 television season. ''Happy Days'' is an American television sitcom that aired first-run on the ABC network from January 15, 1974, to July 19, 1984, with a total of 255 half-hour episodes spanning 11 seasons. Created by Garry Marshall, it was one of the most successful series of the 1970s. ''Mobile One'' is an American television series that aired on the ABC network from September 12, 1975 to January 5, 1976. The show was a production of Jack Webb's Mark VII Limited for Universal Television. It was the only Mark VII Limited show to air on ABC. Premise Unlike most of Mark VII's other productions, ''Mobile One'' was not based on the real-life exploits of a police force or any other governmental agency. The show was set instead in a local television station's electronic news gathering operation, which at the time was a very new technology. The pilot film first aired on May 4, 1975 and the series itself premiered September 8, 1975; the last episode aired January 9, 1976. The series starred Dennis Weaver, and for six of its seven years as part of the ''NBC Mystery Movie'' rotating wheel series that was produced for the network by Universal Television.
