1975 Tour Of Flanders
The 59th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling race in Belgium was held on Sunday 6 April 1975. Course World champion Eddy Merckx concluded his second win after another memorable raid to the finish. Merckx broke clear from the peloton on the Oude Kwaremont together with fellow Belgian Frans Verbeeck with 104 km to ride. Merckx and Verbeeck continued working for the remainder of the course, until Merckx distanced his worn-out companion in Denderwindeke, 6 km before the finish in Meerbeke. Édouard Louis Joseph, Baron Merckx (, ; born 17 June 1945), better known as Eddy Merckx, is a Belgian former professional road and track bicycle racer who is among the most successful riders in the history of competitive cycling. Eikenberg
The Eikenberg (English: ''Oak Hill'') is a hill and road in the municipality of Maarkedal, in the Belgian province of East Flanders. With an 82 m altitude top, it is one of many hill formations in the Flemish Ardennes, in the south of East Flanders. The slopes of the hill are paved in cobbles, with a road gradually winding upwards from the Maarke brook to the top in Kerzelare village, 3 km east of Oudenaarde. The top of the climb is on the intercity road between Brakel and Oudenaarde. The cobbled climb is one of the regular sites in Flemish cycling races in springtime. Freddy Maertens (born 13 February 1952) is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist who was twice world road race champion. Gitane is a French manufacturer of bicycles based in Machecoul, France; the name "Gitane" means gypsy woman. Gerben Karstens (14 January 1942 – 8 October 2022) was a Dutch professional racing cyclist, who won the gold medal in the 100 km team trial at the 1964 Summer Olympics, alongside Bart Zoet, Evert Dolman, and Jan Pieterse. At the same Olympics he finished 27th in the individual road race. Karstens ranks 6th in all-time stage wins in Vuelta a España history. Rik Van Linden (born 28 July 1949 in Wilrijk, Antwerp) is a Belgian former road bicycle racer. He won the points classification in the 1975 Tour de France, ahead of Eddy Merckx. Bosberg
The Bosberg (English: ''Forest Hill'') is a hill in the Pajottenland in Belgium with its top located on the border of East Flanders and Flemish Brabant. The road leading to the top is surfaced in concrete in the lower parts and cobbled in the steep upper parts of the hill. The hill is almost completely forested with the Raspaillebos natural reserve.
