The 1975 Tour de Suisse was the 39th edition of the Tour de Suisse cycle race and was held from 12 June to 20 June 1975. The race started in Baden and finished in Affoltern am Albis. Roger De Vlaeminck
Roger De Vlaeminck (; born 24 August 1947) is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist. He was described by Rik Van Looy as "The most talented and the only real classics rider of his generation". Nicknamed “The Gypsy” because he was born into a family of traveling clothiers, he is known for exploits in the cobbled classic Paris–Roubaix race, but his performances in other “Monument” races gave him a record that few can match. His record in Paris–Roubaix earned him another nickname, “Monsieur Paris–Roubaix” (English: “Mr. Paris–Roubaix“). Brooklyn (cycling Team)
Brooklyn was an Italian professional cycling team that existed from 1970 to 1977. It was a mainly a one-day classics team and featured riders such as Roger De Vlaeminck, who won Paris–Roubaix four times. For the first three seasons it was sponsored by the Italian beer Dreher, and then for the following seasons by Italy's Brooklyn Chewing Gum. Dietrich Thurau
Dietrich ("Didi") Thurau (; born 9 November 1954 in Frankfurt) is a retired German professional road bicycle racer. His biggest career achievements include winning the one-day classic, Liège–Bastogne–Liège, his home country's Deutschland Tour and surprising the field at the 1977 Tour de France by capturing four stages and holding the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification from the prologue for 15 days. Thurau did win the young rider classification although he lost the overall lead to eventual winner Bernard Thévenet. Thurau was German pursuit champion three times and won 29 six-day races. Italo Zilioli
Italo Zilioli (born 24 September 1941) is an Italian former professional cyclist. Born in Turin, he won 58 races as a professional, including the 1966 Züri-Metzgete. He also totaled 5 stage wins at the Giro d'Italia; however, he never won the major tour of his country. He finished the Giro in the top 5 on six occasions and made the podium four times, finishing 2nd in 1964, 1965 and 1966, and finishing 3rd in 1969 as a member of Filotex. During the 1970 Tour de France he won stage 2 and took over the Yellow jersey, which caused a minor controversy as it angered his teammate Eddy Merckx, who was anticipated to wear the jersey for the majority of the race and repeat as champion. Bert Pronk
Bert Pronk (24 October 1950 – 15 March 2005) was a Dutch road cyclist who won the Tour de Luxembourg and Ronde van Nederland in 1977. He rode Tour de France in 1976, 1977, 1979 and 1980 with the best achievement of 12th place in 1977. A few years before his death he was diagnosed with cancer, but seemed to fully recover and resume his sport activities. He died suddenly while on vacations in Portugal. 1980 Tour team time trial disaster The 1980 Tour de France had an early TTT. The prologue was the day before, and in the morning the riders had had a stage of 133 km (83 mi). Bert Pronk had jumped ahead, riding in the breakaway. That helped Jan Raas to win the stage.
