The men's 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1974 European Athletics Championships was held in Rome, Italy, at Stadio Olimpico on 7 and 8 September 1974. The third-placed Finnish team was initially disqualified over Markku Kukkoaho's use of his elbows at the start of the anchor leg, but Finland launched a successful counter-protest and kept the bronze medals. Jean-Claude Nallet
Jean-Claude Nallet (13 March 1947 – 19 August 2023) was a French sprinter that competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics in the 400 m and 4 × 400 m relay and at the 1976 Summer Olympics in the 400 m hurdles and reached the final in the relay. He won two gold and two silver medals in these events at the European championships of 1969 to 1974.
