1974 BC Lions Season
The 1974 BC Lions finished in third place in the Western Conference with an 8–8 record and appeared in the Western Semi-Final. Running back Johnny Musso got injured early in the season and played only three games. However, backups Lou Harris and Monroe Eley took advantage of their opportunity. Harris had 1232 yards rushing, 532 receiving, league best 12 touchdowns and was named to the CFL all-star team. Eley also rushed for over a thousand yards (1176) giving the Lions one of the best single season running games in CFL history. Don Moorhead continued to be the starting quarterback and threw for 2468 yards passing and 17 touchdown passes. However, Moorhead injured his knee and hand late in the season, and General Manager Jackie Parker traded for veteran quarterback Pete Liske in October as insurance. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Curtis Wester
Curtis Wester (May 7, 1951 – May 8, 1995) was a guard in the Canadian Football League. Wester played college football at East Texas State where he was selected by the Associated Press as a first-team guard on the 1972 Little All-America college football team. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns of the NFL. He came to Canada in 1974 and played with the BC Lions for three seasons, his best year being 1974, when he was an all-star and won the DeMarco-Becket Memorial Trophy as best lineman in the West Division (and was runner-up for the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award). Brock Aynsley is a Canadian former professional football player. He was a Canadian all-star and Grey Cup champion wide receiver who played eight seasons in the Canadian Football League, winning a Grey Cup Championship. Graduating from Washington State University, Aynsley signed with his home province's BC Lions, playing 31 games for them over 3 years and catching 50 passes for 784 yards and one touchdown. Jim Young
James Norman Young (born June 6, 1943) is a former professional American football and Canadian football player. Young played running back and wide receiver for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings for two seasons (1965–66), and the CFL's BC Lions for thirteen seasons (1967–79). Young is a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the Queen's University Football Hall of Fame. Young's #30 jersey is one of ten numbers retired by the BC Lions. In 2003, Young was voted a member of the BC Lions All-Time Dream Team as part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebration.
